MORC Board of Directors

Jason Tufty
PRESIDENT
About: I joined the MORC board in 2021. I started my volunteering out ar the Cottage Grove Bike Park. After a few years there, I began to want to do more actual trail riding. Just jumping wasn’t getting me where I wanted to be.
These days you’ll find me riding and maintaining the trails out at Monarch.

VICE PRESIDENT
About: I come to MORC thrilled to ride, enjoy the outdoors and be in the woods. Lucky enough to have a family who also enjoys being outside. My daughter is a runner, so she enjoys the same places I love to ride, just different trails. The boy races mtb, gravel and cross. He's happy to talk everything bikes. My wife tends towards the paved trails, so we all meet up at the trailhead at some point. As you see by the photo, I'm the one behind the camera.

About: I got into mountain biking back in the early 90’s while stationed in Korea and Idaho.
This was before there were trail systems in place. I fell in love with riding on dirt and dealing with all the obstacles. After I moved to Minnesota in 97, I didn’t think there was much for dirt riding, so I stuck to the awesome paved trails for many years. A few years ago, I got into watching Mountain Bike videos and investigated the local mountain biking scene. I was totally surprised at the network of trails just in the metro area. I joined the MORC board in 2024 so I can help to bring other to my happy place.

About: I grew up in Florida and didn't start mountain biking until I moved to Minnesota in 2007. Now I can't imagine my life without it, and I love sharing the stoke of riding singletrack as a MTB skills instructor. I joined the MORC board in 2023 and am grateful for the opportunity to help more riders find joy in this crazy sport and on our awesome trails. Photo credit: Nate Ryan

About: My journey in cycling began with BMX and evolved into a love affair with mountain biking in the formative years of the late 80s. Experiencing the sport before dedicated trails existed gave me a profound appreciation for the incredible trail systems we have today. Joining MORC in 2003 felt like a natural step, and Theodore Wirth became my primary hub for giving back. I dove deep into trail building, completing numerous training courses and even contributing to the design and flagging of trails across the region. Although my formal volunteer role shifted around 2011, my involvement in the local mountain bike community and trail advocacy remained a constant. I'm now re-energized and rejoined the MORC Board, driven by a commitment to our trails, a passion for strong advocacy, and a desire to cultivate and expand our amazing community of volunteers and riders who are the true stewards of the trails we all enjoy.

About: I am the newest member of the MORC Board and am looking forward to help this organization continue its mission of bringing the best of mountain biking to our region. I love being outdoors and all things bike related. In addition to joining MORC, I serve on the Bicycle Advisory Committee for the City of Minneapolis where we try to expand biking opportunities and safe travels for all. I have been very impressed with the work that MORC has done to enhance the mountain biking experience around the Twin Cities area and am excited to build on the awesome trajectory that is in place.

PAST PRESIDENT
About: I’ve been riding MORC trails since the early 90’s and have always enjoyed single track. I joined the board in 2018 to give back to the organization and hopefully contribute to the future of off road cycling in Minnesota. My two terms with the board have been extremely rewarding. Looking forward to seeing where things go next!
