Getting There
History
Conceived by Chris Druckenmiller in 2006 when his wife and he were contemplating moving from Minneapolis to Wells to be closer to family, work began Fall, 2008. Inspired by Minneapolis trails like Brownie Lake and Theo Wirth, the goal is a tight, twisty, feature-packed trail. Currently, the trail is about as long as Brownie Lake, and the lesson from that is you can compensate with technical challenge for lack of distance.
The Details
Short and sweet just like yo gramma! A lot of features packed into a 1-mile loop in the heart of farm country. They layout is currently a kind of figure 8: two loops connected by a 2-way trail. Each loop has been designed favoring a clockwise direction but you may ride any direction you please. In fact, switching up the direction each lap is a great way to add variety to an admittedly short trail.
Trail features include two rock obstacles, a drop, multiple log piles, berms and surprisingly challenging/long climbs considering the limited topography.
Big plans exist for more trail in other areas. It's very likely we can add an other 1/2 mile loop on the other side of the pond connected by 1/4 mile of gravel road but that could just be the start of a whole lot more trail yet to come in the next few years.
