Dirt Boss / Trail Steward

What does the  icon mean?   To effectively manage the ~80 miles of trails that MORC builds and maintains, we came up with the roles of Dirt Boss and Trail Steward.

Dirt Boss

A Dirt Boss is an individual that has met certain criteria in regards to IMBA Training (trail design, building & maintenance) and has shown their leadership abilities and commitment to our trails.   You can easily identify a Dirt Boss by their orange shirt.   These individuals are usually assigned to a particular trail, planning out and leading the individual trail work sessions.   If you volunteer at a MORC run trail session you will want to look for the Dirt Boss(es) as they will be leading the group, making sure everyone has the tools they need and the training needed to complete whatever task is planned.  If you are interested in learning more about becoming a Dirt Boss, please contact us at staff@morcmtb.org.  We especially need volunteers to step up in the areas we are not yet covering, such as the north metro.

Trail Steward

A Trail Steward is a single point of contact between the land managers and MORC.  These individuals work with the land managers to approve trail projects, submit monthly trail reports, as well as many other issues.   At present our Trail Stewards are also Dirt Bosses.
