Nice pic! Interesting looking trail. I like the balance between seeing the rider and the trail. (is there a lot of singletrack out there?)

There is a ton of singletrack in Crested Butte. Iv'e been out there twice and there is well over a 100 miles of sweet singletrack - all within riding distance of downtown CB.

There is a thread in the out of state rides section that has some links to local web sites with more info (I couldn't figure out how to paste a link in here).

If you are looking to go somewhere in Colorado or do some high alititude riding in the mountains then CB should be high on your list.

So, Is the altitude insurmountable, I can alpine ski at 8,000 plus feet...but biking just makes my lungs hurt thinking about it, my car doesn't even run right at over 7,000 ft. Is it an enjoyable vaca. provided one is in shape and a flatlander.

      Happy Trails.

I'm in Crested Butte right now, and in answer to your question -- yes! It's awesome. I'm not even in that great of shape, and it's fun. You'll be used to the altitude change in about a day. At least it seems like I am. Granted, the climbing is still tough, but you just have to pick trails within your limits. I know I'm not that good, so I'm not trying some of the really hard stuff (401, Reno/Flag/Bear), I'm sticking with things I can do like Lower Loop, Snodgrass, etc.

Here's the best link I've found so far for finding out trail info...very recently updated and excellent play-by-play of each trail:

Also, there is no such thing as a rock garden out here -- it's ALL rock garden!!

And one final thought: I wish we had marmots in MN. They are so fat and cute and lazy!
