Thanks to all that came down to race on either day! It's always sweet seeing more people out on the trails. Hope the XC guys and gals had as good a time as it seemed the DHers did.

Also, big thanks to the City of Red Wing for being there again and letting this happen. They are AWESOME to work with.

    Thanks

Check the U of M Cycling team website later today (Tues). We'll have an updated race flyer- # of laps has changed to 3 for expert/comp/collegiate men As and 2 for expert women/collegiate women/collegiate mens B. The course maps will be posted as well.

We'll have probably 30 collegiate racers and ?? noncollegiate racers. We're hoping for a good turn out, so come on down!

maybe the less serious racers (such as myself) should have a contest to see who can dress the most outragously.

Is peace coffee going to be there or should I smuggle in a beer or two for post race celebration

The flyer I've seen says Citizen/Sport will go 10 miles, Comp/Expert will go 18. I don't know how secretive Maria wants the route to be. Home field advantage and all for the Gophs... but let's just say that racers in the Collegiate fields and in the Comp/Expert race will want to get the Led out on at least one of the climbs lest they fall too far behind (at least that's the latest I've heard). Other than that it will be very similar to the MNSCS race.

I believe that the Citizen/Sport race will follow the Citizen course almost exactly from the MNSCS race this year (so Citizens won't get killed by some of the climbs, but Sport riders may want to race Comp).

Oh, and for this event there will not be camping on the bluff. Ben pretty much summed up the best camping options.

frontenac state park is probably 7 miles southeast, haycreek is probably 5 miles south, and welch is maybe 10 miles northwest. That is as close as you can get.

How long are the laps anyhow? I have heard stairway is being omitted, is that true?

I was down in Redwing this past weekend to inspect/preride the DH course. The trail is in great shape! I'm definately looking forward to this weekend. I'll be bringing a crew down to race both the xc and dh events.

    Quick question:
Is camping allowed at Memorial Park? If not, is there a campground nearby?

Yes, NORBA license is required to race comp and expert. We will have one-day licenses available for $10. NORBA was the only way we could have the event insured.
