    Trail Condition: Packed
Date Posted: Today @ 06:09 AM

    Details:  Packed....for now.

The weather forecast for the coming week(s) is not going to be very accommodating to our outdoor winter lifestyle at Theo.

Avoid riding when temps are above freezing will help preserve what base we have should real winter make a reappearance. The mushy ruts we create today make for frozen ruts when the temps drop...which are no fun for anyone.

If we start getting exposed, thawing trail tread, the gates will likely closed. Closed gates = closed trails for ALl users. Please honor any possible closures.

    Thank you!

Get out this morning if you are able.

    Steve

Details:  As Steve said, trails are mostly vecro-y goodness. I rode South first and last (as the sun was starting to set) and in the ~1 hour in between did see more ice showing through on a few of the corners, steeper up and down hills in South.

A rider with super-skinnies (like 1.5" or something, I tried to look when I passed him) cut a nice trench in the North trails. Didn't look like he was having that much fun anyway.

    Trail Condition: Needs Packing
    Date Posted: 01-11-2017 @ 12:48 PM

Details:  I rode the north loop around 1100 today on fat tires without studs. The trails could use a little more packing down but traction was good without studs.

Details:  The snow is definitely accumulating on top of the trails now, and could use some packing. The icy ruts are still there underneath, so caution is advised, but studs didn't feel like a significant advantage this morning.

    Trail Condition: Icy
    Date Posted: 12-31-2016 @ 11:33 AM

Details:  Rode the North loop earlier this morning. Dillinger 5 studded. Quite variable conditions, some stretches were grippy and nice, some glare ice and tricky even with the studs, some areas that were rutted and pockmarked where people were on the trail when it was warm. I would recommend home brews if you want to be safe and secure. I would not recommend trying to ride without studs.

Details:  The trees have been cleared from the North Section of the trail. Suds are highly recommended. Home brews would be best.

Details:  Rode this morning. Two large trees down, three head knockers. The
Very icy and as treacherous as I've ever seen. I rode studded fat tires and found it very challenging.

Details:  Studded tires are likely your best friend until we get a significant snow.

A friendly reminder to those who choose to help update the conditions forum for Theo.....

We do NOT use the "Fat Tires" condition at Theo. When it is open to ride it is open to all traveling under their own power. We do not discriminate based on tire size.

    Thanks!

Trail Condition: Melting Do Not Ride
    Date Posted: 12-25-2016 @ 08:53 PM

Details:  Was out walking Later afternoon (12/25), not surprising but trail turned soft. Riding not good for trail, soft spots plus ice everywhere. Let's hope for some cold temps and snow before the trail becomes good to ride again.

    Trail Condition: Fat Tires
    Date Posted: 12-22-2016 @ 11:03 AM

Details:  Rode late last night (12/21). North and South are in pretty decent shape... a few icy spots and a couple ruts from some idiot who decided it was smart to ride skinny tires. Glenwood was decent, as well as SW, but there is some serious 'cupping' going on so watch your speed. It's easy to get pulled into the groove if you are not on the same line. Brownie has some packing on the outer loop but it is pretty narrow. With the temps still in the 30s, please consider only riding if you have a fatbike.
Ride and Smile! See ya on the trails.

Details:  Rode the North Loop a few times this morning. It was in great shape. It's quite a bit wider than when I rode it on Saturday. But watch out, it can be pretty soft towards the edges. A skinny was on there sometime before me and looked like they fared well. Some kids with snow shoes were starting when I was finishing. That plus the higher temps may mean it will get pretty wide, packed and fast. Perhaps icy in sections.

    Trail Condition: Needs Packing
    Date Posted: 12-17-2016 @ 07:56 AM

Details:  With 5-6ish inches of fresh snow over night, the trails are going to need some packing. Those of you in the "first tracks" crowd best be putting down your internet device and getting out there this morning.

If you choose to go out this weekend, please, please, please be careful and mindful of the temperatures. They start to plummet on Saturday and get downright nasty on Sunday. Current forecast shows -40s with the windchill on Sunday.

Fighting a cold so I'm focusing positive thoughts on the upper 20's and lower 30's forecasted for early next week.

Ride safe. Ridercicles are not cool. #punintended
