Hey All,

Now that the sun is setting so early, and with people not having the opportunity to join us on weekday nights for the joys of Trailbuilding, we are going to hold a weekend session.

Place: Salem Hills/Harmon Park, Inver Grove Heights.
Time: 9:00am - 12:00 Saturday October 11
Details : Light food and beverages will be provided afterwards, along with various MORC Swag for those who Show Up.

Session is weather dependent, so if it is dry, we work. Temperature be damned!!!!!

Work will consist of finishing off the Dingo and BOB built sections of singletrack in the praire and Wooded sections of the park. We have about 1/2 - 3/4 of a mile of this work to complete a 3 1/2 to 4 mile rideable loop in the southern part of the park.

With a very large crew, we might be able to finish it off, with a good crew we should at least get a good start on getting the trail open next spring.

Where: Salem Hills Parking Lot. Upper 55th street between hwy 52 and South Robert Trail.

If you arrive late, we will be parked in the south field. Go east on upper 55th to Babcock, go south on Babcock to 63rd Circle. Drive SLOWLY through the circle and SLOWLY out the back and into the field.

What to Bring: Long Pants, Water, and a wish to help build the first ALL NEW singletrack trail in the cities in over 10 years.

For more information / or if you have questions.

Hey James,

As of right now I can make it. I have a couple of threshers, some short handle shovels, various rakes and a chainsaw.

Let me know what you would like me to bring.

And if anyone is interested in getting breakfast early, I'm up for some greasy diner food.

Tools will be available, but short handled shovels and hard tined rakes ( not leaf rakes) would be useful.

Should be no need for power tools.

See everyone there.

Hey All,

Just sending out a reminder about the Saturday Trail Work at Salem Hills/Harmon Park. 9:00am - 12:00

A couple of updates.

Sandwiches, chips, fruit, pop, and any other cold beverages that people want to bring will be available after we finish.

MORC Swag will be given away to those that show.

Bring a Bike and we will ride the trails when done!!!!

Make sure and bring your bike so that you can test ride the trails that we have built ( should be almost 4 miles or more). Come out to work and get first tracks!!! We also need people to ride with us to get feedback on trail direction, one-way, two-way, Sight lines, flow, etc.

We will meet in the Salem Hills Parking lot ( Gold Star) at 9:00am and drive to the field (Red Star). Lunch will be back at the Parking Lot to take advantage of the picnic tables.

Hope see see everyone there.

Weather is supposed to be beautiful!!!

I don't know if it was the dismal weather forecast or what happened on Saturday morning. It surprised me how few people showed up. The weather certainly was not what it had been earlier in the week, but we stayed dry during the trail work. Since weekdays are really tied up, I liked the Saturday morning work. We worked, had lunch, and then had a crack at the new trail.

I had a great time! It is good to meet the people who are willing to put in some effort to ride the trails. For anybody that does trail work: Thank you, thank you, and thank you.

Folks, if it has not been emphasized enough already... this is going to be a cool trail. Hopefully, once people get more of a taste of things they might be more excited to put in some time doing some trail work. I know I am looking forward to getting out there again to lend my assistance.

I'm extremely please with how much trail we finished with just 6 workers. If we had 12 we would get more than twice as much done just due to the energy and exitement of knowing we could finish this trail very soon.....

James estimates we've had 30 different people working on Harmons throughout the summer and fall. I don't know if there will be anymore trail work days this year or not (depends on weather) but please come on out, it's great work... And bring your bike for a test ride.
