I'm thinking of putting flat pedals on my hardtail which I will also be converting to single speed.
Anybody have recommendations for some good grippy flat pedals? I also plan to use it for winter riding if that is a factor at all.

The Primo's look pretty good.
When I was looking around I found these pedals called "shinburgers" at Brooklyn Machine Works (http://www.brooklynmachineworks.com/) they look painful, and so is the price, $120 for platforms, maybe not...
Anybody else have anything I should look at?
Maybe there will be something at the swap meat...

Don't be so crucial on the pedals. Any good BMX platform will do. S&M, Primo, Haro, or whatever. What really matters is the shoe. You need some good grippy flat bottom skate shoes. Vans tend to be the best. But Airwalks, Simple, Duffs, or whatever will work well. Make sure it's a flat bottom without a lot of grooves or contours and make sure the color of the rubber on the bottom is that light brownish or tan color. It's softer and sticks better. Some shoes have a super hard rubber on the bottom, they will last longer, but won't grip as well.
If you ride in the winder, the botties to keep your feet warm grip fairly well as they are.

Oh, make sure you specify 9/16" pedals if you get BMX ones. Some BMX bikes have 1-piece cranks which use 1/2" spindles. So specify the spidle size as 9/16" so you don't get home wondering why the pedals don't fit your cranks.

I just ended up getting some Haro's, they were cheap and nice and wide for my giant flippers. They feel really good.
Now...how the hell do I bunny hop with these crazy things??

Ohh Ohhh Ohhh I can answer that one!!! Wow, I get to give advice and not get it for once!!!!
Shad has some real good instructions on bunny hopping in the riding tips section. I have to admit they really help, even though I still suck at it. Hey, I bunny hopped a plastic Dew bottle in the street without touching it, so it's progress. Obviously with my cleats on I can hop better but that's not the point.

Yeah, his tips helped me get to where I am with clipless, I just have to get used to not being connected to the bike. I just lifted me feet right off the pedals when I tried it today.

Considering how I ride (see "Crash!"), I have been considering that for a while anyway. Maybe now is the time.
