OK, we just hashed over the fav seat subject, but I have another angle on it...

Currently I have the Specialized comfort plus seat. I can ride on that thing all day and my rear doesn't get sore and I don't have padded shorts. I love that saddle. However, I keep bending the rails on the saddle. Part of it is because I'm so darn heavy. But it is also very wide and that is more leverage for my fat rear to pound the rails with.

Any recommendations for this prob? Ti rails maybe, are they a lot stronger? Anyone have experience with other manufacturers being any stronger? Maybe there's durability probs with my seat, who knows...

I'm apprehensive about getting another seat because I go numb so easily and it isn't cheap to play musical seats to find another one that works well. I love that seat, wish the rails were stronger!!!

Maybe you just need to stand more over the rough stuff, I've never had any problem with bending rails.

One comment about comfort too, when it comes to saddles wide doesn't necessarily mean comfortable. I think I actually used that exact saddle for a while and it never felt good. But as has been discussed before everybody is different.

Keeping the butt off the saddle is the delimma. If I stand up farther, then my CG is off. If I keep my CG low then I may hit the seat when I come off of something.

It doesn't always bend from obstacles. The first time it bent was from a 15 mile road ride. Yes there were some bumps in the road, but it was a pretty smooth ride, just all that weight on it for that time.

I realize wider isn't necessarily better, and wider in this case may be more stress on the rails. So in this case maybe this isn't a comfort question because that is too individual, but a quality question...

With your pedals in the Horiz. position and standing with bent knees and arms then you should be able to absorb bumps while you are barely touching the seat in all directions. I have the most control of the bike in this position and can react much quicker than in the sitting postion. This is just an outlook from my experiences.
