Harmon Park Saturday Trail Work

Hey all,

I am trying to find out how many people out there would be interested and able to make it out for one Saturday Trail Work session in October at Harmon / Salem Hills? We are getting to the point where evening trailwork is getting a little short and we only have a little bit or finishing left to do.

I was thinking, depending on the weather 9-12am either the first or second Saturday in October.

What does everyone think.

Alas, that doesn't work for me because I have orchestra rehearsals on Saturday mornings.

I would be willing and able to work the second Saturday of October. Weeknights never work for me, so I look forward to the opportunity to help out on a weekend.

It should work for me. Either weekend would be good. I can take a saturday off of work for trail work.

For one reason or another I never make it during the week - but I would like the chance to come out and help on either one of those Saturdays.

I'm game for the second Saturday too. I think we should definitely take advantage of a few weekend hours to get this trail up and rolling. Although I have made a committment to make a few weekday sessions, one of the reasons I have not done much trialwork this summer is their timing. I think we would catch a lot of folks that just can't fit an evening work session into their schedule if we hit a couple of weekends this fall.

I'm heading out to Levis-Trow the first weekend in October, but I'd be up for the second....

I'll come too whichever one it is. If people can't make it to Harmon, we'll maybe have one this fall at Lebanon as well - depends on if we'll be doing new trail or not there yet this fall.

Saturday trail work sessions might become more common. Many have requested alternatives to the evening sessions - we'll work to schedule some of these at various trails next summer.

In the fall its a nice way to take advantage of the light... because soon we won't have enough to warrant starting trail work in the evenings.

Hey all,

Thanks for the responses. At this time it is looking like it will be the 2nd Saturday in October, weather dependent, for our Morning Trailwork session at Harmon / Salem Hills.

Please keep the responses comig so I can get a solid idea of what people think and what to expect.

2nd Sat works better for me anyways since the 1st sunday in October is the Twin Cities Marathon, during which I will Probably ride about 60 miles doing Patrol.

What would you guys think of doing both? If James can't be available for the 1st Saturday in October, why not have John play substitute trail boss?

I can see it now ... a substitute trail boss.

John: "OK, according to James' plan, we're working on about 3/4 mile of trail today-"

Chris: "Um, John, James told me that we don't have to work on the trail today if we don't want to. We could just watch a video."

John: "Well, that's not what it says in my plan."

Phillip: "Yeah, he told me he already wrote up the plan before he decided we could watch a video instead."

John: "OK, sounds good to me. Now, let's take roll: let's see, is there a Dick Hertz? Dick Hertz? C'mon, guys, who's Dick Hertz?"
