ya gotta love a project bike! CX season is near and I scratched together enough $ to get a new Surly Cross Check frame. It'll start life as a single speed simply because I don't have the $ to do it any different. The rest of the parts will be leftovers... or begged, borrowed, & stolen.

Regardless, this bike will be a blast. I've never done cx, so this rig & I will expirence a few firsts together.

I'm getting togethar a bike for cyclocross too. But I'm starting with my hardtail commuter. It's a nashbar brand frame and I'm going to get a rigid fork on it to cut down on weight. I'm also looking to get good clipless pedals. (A must, I think, for cx.) Other than that, it's all cheap parts that I got off of other bikes. The big chainring is bent, but it's steel so I think I can straighten it out. It's kind of a junker bike. Cyclocross is going to be fun. I've never done it before.

...after a day-long soak in the part washer tank a non-working set of Ultegra 8spd shifters I had seem to have come back to life. Now I'm short a front derailleur. I need an 8spd double front derailleur with a 1 1/8" clamp.

anybody?
