The trail re-routing and rehabilitation project at Terrace Oaks is finally underway, and our first work day will be Thursday, September 25, 5:30 PM. The first 2 of 10 trail segments to be re-routed have been machine cut, and are ready for the finish work. This will consist of tree and brush trimming, and the pick and shovel work that MORC does so well at Lebanon Hills, Salem Hills/Harmon Park, etc.

Bring a shovel if you have one, MORC will provide the rest of the tools. If you can't make it on time at 5:30, just hike down the trail & you'll find the new trail about a block in.

John;

I think it is great that an effort is being made to rework this great trail! How can people volunteer to supoort the effort?
How will the new trail affect the older trail, longer distance, more hills, etc?

Thanks,

Bill:)

Until John Dahl answers, I'll try give some quick info.

The trail re-routes really don't add much trail - they are simply fixing various spots in the trail that were falling apart. Perhaps in the long run some small amount of distance will be added - but that may take some time.

Trail work is every Thursday at 5:30pm - meet in the Terrace Oaks parking lot (by the tennis courts).

One small section has already been opened up (and another sketchy one closed).

Working with the city has been slow, but apparently they are starting to come around. Hopefully when they see the new sections it may someday mean more trails there.... we'll see.. I too would like this as an end result.

:)

Thanks for replying John!

Are tools provided each Thursday night? What about what to wear? How long is the crew out there?

Thanks again,

Bill :cheesy:

I think there will only be a few Thursdays this fall, then they will go again next year... probably not every Thursday though.

Wear whatever you might wear that can get a little dirty. Long pants, shirt, gloves, work boots... MORC provides the tools and the training etc.

I know they are having a session this coming Thursday. I'll try get them to post a more definite schedule and info...

Oh, and they are usually out there until it gets dark, which means just a couple hours if that in the fall...
