I would like to ride Brownie Lake tonight after work but I need directions to get there. I live in Edina but really don't know where Brownie Lake is at, somewhere south of 394 I guess...If someone could give me directions to the Lake and where to park and find the trail that would be great. Thanks.

Did you find it? I can't tell by the time stamp if you posted this on Thursday or Friday.

Sorry. I wasn't sure as the first time I saw your posting it was time stamped 3:45. Here is how I get to Browie. Note, I come from the west on Hwy 55 and usually ride the trails from the golf course to the lake. If you don't want to ride from the golf course take a right on Theo Wirth. Drive over 394 and park in the residentials just past the 4 way stop. Ride back to the 4 way stop and you'll see a trail that goes down to the lake. Ride down to the lake and go right. This trail goes along the west side of the lake. Once at the far end of the lake go right. If you end up on cut grass you went too far. The trail enterance is on your right just before the cut grass. Hope this helps. Don't ride it if it is too muddy.

Will,
As one of the MOCA members who is working with the City of Minneapolis to legalize this and other trails in the area, I would ask you not to ride there tonight.
After the rains we had last night Brownie will be in very bad condition and not very stable for riding. It has some significant issues which we are working with the city to address and the more people who ride it when it can not handle it, the more likely it will disappear and not be included in the trail propasal we are working on.
Please wait a couple of days before you try and ride brownie.
Thanks

...I was wondering how wet it would be there. I have no problem not riding there tonight or even this weekend. I'm really new to the sport, only started this summer and really don't know which trails tend to have problems after the rain. Is there any trail you can recommend that would be in better condition to ride tonight?

erg,
The only one I would even suggest would be Battle Creek in St. Paul.
It has enough sand in the soil that it dries out fairly quickly.
Usually what I do when it is liek this and I want to ride I will just head downtown and play around. It is an easy way to learn bike handling, balance, stairs, etc.
River Bottoms could also be ridable but there will be puddles in places, so I would wait until tomorrow for there.
Just so you know, Brownie is maybe 3/4 mile of trail total. it is ususally riden with theo wirth/twin lakes.

I haven't tried that yet, any tips on good places to go for fun obstacles.
I've been itching to do more of that since I got my new bike, but SLP is pretty short on fun stuff to ride.
