Lebanon Hills - NIGHT group rides

Ok, its time to get some night riding group rides together... anyone with me?

Maybe like... Friday or Saturday night this week? Thursday looks like it might rain.

We're slowly getting darker earlier... but at this time I'm still parking over off Covington road at the tennis courts just accross the field from the Leb parking lot. Safer to park there.. just in case the ride goes past 10pm (when Dakota locks the gates)

Soon we won't have to worry about that though.

Anyway - get out your lights.. if you don't have them, buy them. Lets ride!

Hmmm.. this might not be a bad idea. We could either ride Buck in the dark.. or we slip on over to Leb for some night riding....

Anyone else up for this?

If not at this time, we have all fall.. just keep suggesting times - I'll probably be out there every night anyway ;)

I need to get my S-works frame in to Douglas this week to see if Specialized will warranty it - so depending on the timing I am definately in!

I am really looking forward to night rides this fall.:D

I plan on being at buck but unfortunately cannot make the night ride at leb. bummer....

I really want to try a night ride there as I just recently got my helmet light. I really want to try it at leb and think it would be best to ride with others.

I'll hopefully be able to make the next one. Maybe sometime next week John?

I would vote for riding buck at night. Lebanon is always there, but riding buck hill at night is not always available.

You have a good point. Everyone can bring lights, we can figure out where to ride at the event.

Just a reminder of the group ride happening at Lebanon Hills tomorrow (Wed) night - 10/1/03. (weather permitting) Meet at the parking lot, ride starts at 8pm sharp. NIGHT RIDE - have those lights charged and ready to go.

Group ride level: Intermediate to Expert. Beginners are also welcome. Night rides are fun, much less formal than day group rides.

Wooohoooo new Teeeeeeeeteeeeeeer!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Once again this was a sweet night ride tonight 10/1. EVERYONE SHOULD COME!!!!!!!!!!! These are fun as all getup, not too fast, not too slow, just right and its a whole different trail at night. Not to mention getting to meet the cool people like me that post here :crazy: But in all seriousness, they are really fun group rides, so charge up them lights get the warm clothes out and c'mon down to Leb every Wed at 8pm sharp!!!!!!!!

Actually with group rides, 8pm is creating a situation where we are running into the lot closing. It gets dark like 7:15 now.. maybe we should move it up to 7:30... ?

Anyway, we can make it 8 tonight since people are already planning on it - but lets move it up for next week...

I'm hoping to be riding tonight 10/15 around 7:30 at Leb.... I have a slight cold, so there is a small chance I won't be there - but otherwise if a group wants to do the usual Wed. night ride I'll see ya there.

BTW: to the guy that was there last week that put his jacket in my van but left early before you could pick it up, I'll have it there tonight for ya...

Just wondering if there will be a night ride wednesday night Oct. 22. I have my bike fixed and took out the spacer in the forks. Can't wait to use 100 mm of travel.

The new trail section was great! I was the first and up til this moment I think the only. :D

It's a bit soft yet. The jump is sorta technical: ride down a small hill, turn left, jump, turn right. I was unable to get any speed but it will be a fun, kinda fast section once it gets packed. very good flow.

I hope to make the Wed night ride, see ya fellow sprocketheads then.

Hey, i'm new to this website but really appreciate the recommendations for great rides around the cities. i've ridden leb quite a few times....great work guys!

this whole night ride business sounds like a blast and i've been checking prices on lights...holy smokes they're expensive! while i'm saving up i don't suppose anyone has a spare old one aruond they'd let me borrow for some of these rides? i'd like to meet some of you guys and ride with you. by the sounds of the forums it seems like you have a pretty tight knit group that has a good time together. don't suppose you'd let me join you for a few rides now and then would you ?? :)

We kind of got the Wednesday night ride off of life support. We had 4 guys out tonight and we found the fifth out on the trail. Thanks for a great ride Mike, JJ, Craig, and John! Thanks for waiting up for me when I fell behind! Got to drop 20 pounds and try to keep up better next year!

JustJake99-- Welcome to the boards! Feel free to join up with any of the group rides, it's always great to meet new people. As far as lights- Sorry I don't have an extra setup. They can be spendy but they dont have to be. A single 10-15 watt helmet mount is all you need to get yourself going. You can always buy a high zoot setup later to supplement it if you want. Check out Marwi, Performance and Cygolite for decent and fair priced units to get you started. If you search the boards there is also a couple of threads discussing lighting setups.

I know we can start earlier, but I'd probably have trouble getting out before 6:30, but maybe if I'm forced to I could get there by 6pm. The weather looks kind of cold, but if it stays dry that day, I'll be there for sure. It has to get below 15 degrees before I start to wimp out!

Yup, we were out digging more trail today and it started to come down pretty good as it got dark. It has been a slow rain the last few days... Leb is probably soaking it up quickly, but any more and the trail might get a little slick and need time to dry out.

Gee, I haven't had to say that in a long time!

Yeah, looks like we'll hope for next wednesday. It was snowing/raining when I went to leave my house in shoreview last night I didn't figure the weather in Eagan wasn't gonna be that much better.

On the positive side, we could use the rain I guess.
