Okay here goes.
I've been replacing the drivetrain on my bike.
Started with a new XT rear derailleur and got it dialed in, no problems.
Next I replaced the the front chainrings with the same sizes 22T-32T-44T.
ALso replaced the chain with the same kind, SRAM PC49. Now I am having a problem that the chain rides up and off the front 42 chainring when on the largest rear 28T cassette. The front derailleur is not pulling the chain off. I also realize this is not a gear I would normally ride but I have never seen this happen before. I plan to replace the cassette. Any other suggestions or ideas?

Replace your whole drivetrain at one time. Your chain is going to start skipping on your cassest, once it breaks in. Unless your old doesn't have many miles on it.

Also, don't ride in that gear. I never ride my #3 chainring (the big one) below the #3 rear speed (#1 being the big gear on the rear). Your making your chain angle in ways it isn't intended.

Your shifters are what determine how far your chain is moved when shifted. So if your front derailure was tossing your chain off the #3 ring, I would most likely be the limit screw being set too far out.
