Anyone out there hiring at all????
Lets see.....Im 25 been working full time since I was 16. Currently manage a bike shop, so I have that knowledge, I am also a decent mechanic.
I have tons of retail experience in both small bussiness and big box. Very organazational and timely. I learn very fast and am willing to work any shifts (I have worked overnights for 4 years if that helps) I am consumer friendly and very helpful.
Currently also a student at the U of M seeking a double major in English and History, then going to shoot for a Masters in Education so I can teach.
Looking for full time year round employment with a decent pay, Pref $26k to start if at all possible.
Just looking for a change of jobs, or maybe just a change in shops if that could happen too!
Now lets go ride!!!

Bad market to be looking for a job!
My wife just graduated with her BA in Computer Information Systems and is despirately looking for a job. So far all she has found is places looking for 10 years of experience (why the hell they would post on campus if they are looking for that I don't know) and only willing to pay 15 bucks an hour.
Yikes!

My recommendation, don't go sneesing at anything that pays less then $15/hour, or less than 26k a year. Those are still good jobs.

Where I work, Ecolab, looks for IT jobs from time to time. Mainly entry level (heldesk) since there is high turnover, but the pay is decent and its great experience.
We also look for customer service people quite often - especially when the kids go back to school. If you aren't picky about what you do and don't mind working the phones, I could check around and see whats available.
I certainly don't mind helping other mountain bikers find good work... maybe someday I'll be asking for the same. (you never know!)

Hey John,
Well if you are willing to poke around at work and hear of anything entry level that a BA in CIS could get then give me a shout. Just shoot me an e-mail! With 5 years of student loans that we are going to have to start paying on and no job yet for her we are in "OH-S#!T" mode:crazy:
have fun

LOL...Now I'm starting to understand my friend's frustration with Ecolab's IT department. He's a VP in sales, we were both at the same conference last week and he was complaining his email hasn't worked for over 4 weeks now...lesse, high turnover and the fact that John comes in after biking every morning at the early hour of 11:45-has lunch and leaves late everyday by 1:30 so he can bike somemore puts it all into focus for me (JK John)
Seriously from what he's always told me and what I see (Ecolab is a national partner/vendor of ours) Ecolab is a great company to work for and is still growthing even in this economy

Remote email access has always been a pain - but with many thousands of associates that get their mail just fine one has to wonder what kind of friends you are hanging out with ;) (just kidding.. I shouldn't pick on our sales boys...)

Yea, for some strange reason Ecolab does average in a good economy and almost even better in a bad one. Doubled in size the last few years, and plans are to double again before 2007.
Your friend the salesman is gonna have to get to selling and stop monkeying around with his email if we're going to hit that mark hehe.. ;)

John, i did send you an e-mail about a month ago to the address listed in your profile about a job, because i happened to see that you worked in an IT dept, through your profile. Did you just delete it thinking it was junk mail? I have seen some job postings for ecolab, but I have never seen job postings for an entry level position, always something that requires a 4 year degree with some sort of chemical background, and at least 2 yrs exp. Anyways, let me know.

Hmmm.. I don't think I got it. I test a lot of spam/virus filters both at work and at home, so it is quite possible it never got to me.
I'll take a look when I get back into work Tuesday and see if there are any good job openings. I know that Ecolab always asks for a 4 year degree in their ads, but I work with many guys that don't have that. (some I wonder if they even have a high school degree.. hehe) I think for a company like Ecolab it helps to know someone. They like to hire consultants too - I have gotten a few friends hired on at least part time on a consulting basis as well.
I'll take a look and see what I can find.

That's because you only write Select statements. You know select this subject in the MORC forums to get everyone going.......then when it gets quiet, select another subject to get everyone going again............oh......we were talking about SQL......sorry........:D

Hey John any consulting for a Network/network security programmer? I can write in C/C++, VB,VBA,Perl,Lotus Scripting and other scripting languages, some JAVA..... Most of what I've done is write programs to track use. Like accessing user databases through programming like ISAM-Windows/NT,NDS-Netware/Novell, Unix Directory Services (cant remember the name) for secure remote access using secureNet and password generator token cards on a VPN and Netscape Directory Services and the like for internet access. I've also done a fair amount of prograramming for Bindery servers and IBM Mainframe systems but its kind of painfull. My programming gig was for 13 platforms
at a financial corporation with around 25,000 users. What I would be looking for is to write end user applications for admins Similar to the Bindview programs but a bit more versitile/specific like one click deletions/additions and access control changes across all platforms and in house applications that have user id/password access.
I like programming that requires a bit of research and hmmm...treasure hunting and is not done with a team of programmers. I'm also not looking for a long term gig.

Our customer service runs its own ship. They select their phone systems (not the company standard) - they get their own servers.. its like a company within a company.
No... its all still in the US... I'm just waiting for my own job to be outsourced. (that will just free me up to work at Lebanon more I suppose... hehe)
