I was out riding Battle Creek this AM, and was intercepted on the trail by a big, friendly Black Lab. I picked him up on the northern end of the eastern trail, and he stayed with me all the way through my loops, and back to the parking lot (where he picked up on two more bikers heading out).

He had a collar and tags (which I didn't check....my bad) and just seemed to love running singletrack.

Anyone ever encounterd this before? Is he a park "feature" that I've missed out on untill now? I was more concerned about getting zapped by the sherrif for having an "off leash" dog than anything else, but it did make for kind of a fun ride.

That's Boo Boo. I've ridden with him twice. The first time, he followed me home and I called the number on his tags. The owners are nice people. I picked him up in the same spot on the North side both times so I think that the owners live next to the trail over there.

It's sad to see owners neglecting their dog like that. Letting him roam can only lead to a bad end.:cryin:

I don't think the owners are neglecting the dog. When I called the owners, they sounded worried and picked him up right away. It's probably just that the dog really likes to run with bikers and will do it any chance that he can get.
