what is your thoughts about a lutsen xc race??

i've been contacted by someone thinking about a xc race at lutsen and need your input....

Needs to be long. Like the epic they did there last year(that I chickend out on)!Maybe not 60 miles long, but challenging long for all classes. Later in the season so the weather may have input to the conditions(I like 'em sloppy and slippery), and the views would then be spectacular. Some thing like that I think.

Do something late in the season, something like MI's Snowman Cometh Race. Late season race with unpredictable conditions. YUM!!!!:shocked:

I did my first EVAR mountain bike race up there like 9 or 10 years ago. It was called the Moose Mountain Classic or something...I won a couple nights stay at one of the new condos they were building. Very cool.

I don't remember what part of the season it was, but it was a blast. We started in some gravel lot and shot up some service road and it gradually got narrower until we were groovin' in the single track. There were lots of summits (imagine that) and I think we also were next to the Alpine Slide for a brief moment and went across the road via a bridge.

I think any race up there would be kick ass. The only Epic race that I've done is Milaca and had a blast. But maybe since there hasn't really been a race up there in awhile you should make it a lap race - if anything to draw more spectators which spreads the word that it was a cool race.

Are you at lilberty to say who contacted you? Would/do you need help planning it? I/we may be interested.....

A race at Lutsen would be sweet. The last race I did up there was in '97. They had a wheelie contest etc.... A festival atmosphere. It was all good.
