Hey gang

Has anybody ridden Milaca recently? I am wondering how the conditions are vis a vis water.

Thanks
Mark

but couldn't make it. However, there were a couple guys who did go. He reported to me that Milaca was pretty overgrown almost everywhere. He said that some of the trail was unrecognizable and that they also had to walk across one of the bridges cuz it was in rough shape.
I also heard that the BLAST race has been canceled due to lack of registrants. I hate to such a beautiful trail go neglected like this.

They did report that Elk River was in good shape though....

Reports are that Bob Mueller wasn't the easiest person to work with, so it's no surprise to me that there are fewer people showing up to his races and maitinance days. I know that MORC wanted to offer assistance and teamwork to BLAST, but Bob didn't seem to want much to do with us. Too bad really, Milca IS a fun trail to ride. Politics suck, especailly when we all want the same thing.

I've only met the guy a couple times - was he just a jerk about building the trails or just weird to work with?
I know that he suffered a stroke or something, so I'm sure that contributed to the trail being out of commission for awhile. But still....

I think I remember reading on the Blast site that they received some money to build bridges at Milaca. Now that it is overgrown makes me think twice about going but I will take the chance and ride it anyway. Grizzy do you know how muddy the trail is? Mark and I are still deciding which day works best to ride.

Right now Sat Morning will work for me. Leave the metro area at 8 AM. Anybody else interested in joining us when the plans firm up?

I'm not sure how muddy it is. I don't think it's too bad. Besides, the rest of the week is supposed to be pretty hot and sweaty, so that will dry anything up in a hurry.

Be sure to give us a report when you get back!

I'd love to join you, but I've got the Welch Race on Sunday.....although...it might be good practice for me...hmmm.

Milaca is full of leafs right now. Quite deep - and with all the rocks they have in the trail it makes things kind of dangerous. Having said that it is also unusually dry and a beautiful ride! Tim, Dale and I rode there today and had a blast. (my first time there!) I love the bridges they have out there... rock piles, some cool log rides - things we don't really have much of around here.

Got some good pics, hope to enhance the trail review soon.
