I like this forum because it's close to home. I feel like we are more of a community here. John could add a rants section like they have there. That would get all the SUV, road rage, bike shop bashin' stuff off of the main parts of the board. I like to rant, but lately am trying to stick with bike issues. I really don't like it when a legitimate biking issue becomes a rant.....kinda like the bee issue almost did. I am partially to blame too.

I'm with Shad....I don't think they'd let all those tree hugg'n SUV haters go off on another forum and at least here I've been able to meet many of the people as well (live and in person...of course I'm not sure Chris was live....he had this "Deer in the headlights look" but that's probably with his event this weekend)

BTW: I've driving Lincoln Town Cars that have a very tight suspension/steering system...and I've driving sports cars that have floated all over the road......so see we do disagree on some things (this is in reference to your post on the other board about "Big cars floating down the road")

There are lots of other bike related forums to be sure, but I'm glad so many of you like this one. It is definitely THE place for our area. I too have really enjoyed getting to know so many great people online and then on the trails... and to think ahead at all the group rides, new trails, and great discussions we'll be having well into the future.
3 bananas to all of ya...

I used to go ride the trail alone and didn't know who was who. Last night I showed up and Dave (socrates) called my name and also called me a tree hugger.......well I still rode with him through those wonderful green trees at Leb......we had fun. Being on some national forum, what are the chances of someone knowing your a tree hugger at the trail?????
He does drive an Escape, but it does not classify in my "I hate SUVs" catagory, Escapes get pretty good mileage. So when is that tree huggin' Escape hybrid coming out with 200 HP and 40 MPG?......that will be cool.

Hello, my name is Ken, (you all replay in unison "Hi Ken".) I am addicted to the forum.
I too, used to ride alone, well, I actually still do. I am sorry that I am primarily one of "those road bikers" that you seem to not like. I wear regular cycling clothing and seldom, if ever, wear a helmet. (Chastise me if you like.) I manage to get about 3,000 miles a year in on a combination of bikes.
I have signed up for my MORC membership as a result of learning more through this website and look forward to meeting some people who are active in the MORC community. It is fun to "hear" the stories and comradely of forum participants. Due to the commitments of life (job, other job, wife, kids, etc.) it is hard to get the time to do the group ride thing or even get out and ride during “normal” times of day. I usually get out to Lebanon early on Saturday mornings around 5am and ride until around 10 or 11am. I hope to run into some of you.
PS: Has anyone agreed upon what our secret signal or handshake should be? How about a MORC t-shirt… something with a clever quote on the back that you can read when you pass me? :D

Dude, don't take it this way. We have discussed this issue many times and I think there is a general stereotype toward roadies. Stereotypes can be accurate, but also bad. My plan in life is not to judge anyone till I know them. You can wear tights while you ride all day long and I may make fun of you because it's fun sometimes, but I won't judge you. Lance rules and he wears tights, so don't worry, we just make fun and don't mean anything by it. Anyway, a lot of people here wear tights and ride road and they are cool, don't sweat it.......have fun and enjoy.
A non-tights wearing BMXer who rides a mountain bike......:)

Yeah it's always cool to run into someone you know out on the trail
BTW: The Green Escape was cxled due to FMC's current situation
PS..the CEO of Ford (Billy Ford Jr) is a tree hugger too

One of the sections on the forums linked in the original post was for Women cyclists. What does everyone think of having something like that here? I know we've got at least a couple of regular female posters. It might be nice to have a section where they can post about group rides and such. It'd help out greatly any beginner woman rider looking for comradere to get her started. :)
