Driving directions to Ore to Shore/Marquette, MI

Hi,

I am riding the Ore to Shore 40-miler this Saturday and was wondering if anyone knows of the quickest route to drive to Marquette, Michigan.

Mapquest says to go up to Duluth on 35 then cut over on Hwy 2 across WI and MI. Seems like a diagonal route up across WI would be quicker. Anyone have any good ideas?

My wife is from the U.P. and we will agree with the route that Mapquest suggested. The trip through Wisconson, though really pretty, is punctuated by small towns and slower speed limits. When you wanna get there in a hurry, take 35 and US 2.

Take some extra time if you can and ride some of the other trails around Marquette. I just got back from there and it is filled with beautiful stuff to ride. And plenty of stuff to test your technical skills, to say the least.

Thank you, Troy. I'll go ahead and follow the tried and true 35/2 route. That's a nice drive, as I recall from my trip to the Porcupine Mtns.

I wish I could take some extra time to explore the area up there. But I'll be coming back Sunday with very tired legs.
