It's dry!
Something I feel I've heard mentioned a lot but only recently realized its tremendous worth is how well Lebannon stands up to rain. I got an email from Don Youngdal as part of a group mailing about the yearly maintenance at the river bottoms. He mentioned working on trouble spots in the trail and I immediately thought about how you're guaranteed to find a few muddy pots there you have to ride around.
Lebanon, however, you can depend on. There is a waiting period immediately after a rain, but overall it stays more dry more often than any other trail in the area.
The big upshot, I believe, is I've been able to get out and ride far more often than ever, because I don't have the nagging feeling in the back of my mind: "Hmm ... it's fun, but I don't wanna dodge mud puddles ... and those dried mud ruts suck!"
Another topic discussed how much of a beating Lebanon has been taking because of all the traffic, yet it's still in great shape. I think being dry is a huge part of it.
"Duh," says John, no doubt. ;)
Three bananas for John, all the MORC guys and IMBA trail building techniques!
