Metric Auto Parts Welch MTB Jam set for August 17th, 2003
The Metric Auto Parts Welch MTB Jam Cross Country Mountain Bike Race is on for August 17th, 2003 at Welch Village Ski and Snowboard Area in Welch, Minnesota. The Welch Village cross country mountain bike race course has been home to previous NORBA National events and other high caliber events over the past ten years. With the help from title sponsor Metric Auto Parts of St. Paul, MN and other fine sponsors ensures for another high class event at Welch Village Ski and Snowboard Area for 2003. With the race course being a popular one for many participants, this event is sure to be one of the larger mountain bike races in Minnesota for 2003.
The event organizers have been hard at work ensuring that the race course is in great shape for the event. Some new single track still may be added to the already great flowing race course. Comp and Expert riders can also look forward to riding The Metric Drop on the north face of the ski hill. The Metric Drop features a steep technical downhill that quickly descends down 250 ft feet of ski hill through a wooded area that separates two of the ski runs. For spectators it is a quick 200 yard walk from the start and finish area.
Cross Country racing action gets under way at 9:30 am with the Citizen Class race, at 11:00 am the Sport riders will take off and rounding off the day will be the Comp and Expert Class race starting at 1:00 PM. The Expert Class event is sure to attract many of the top regional riders as cash payout will be given to the top overall male and female riders.
Free pre-riding will be available to all registered racers on Saturday, August 16th from 10:00 am till 2:00 pm. Registration for the Metric Auto Parts Welch MTB Jam is still available through the mail till Monday, August 11 or online till Thursday, August 14 at http://www.mnscs.com/welchmtbjam.
