Here we go - the final trail work session before our August off... if you are like me and will be hard pressed to make it through a whole month without doing something out at Leb, tonight is the night to show up to get your fix.... ;)
We are thinking about doing something slightly different again tonight. Maybe even doing some prep work on something new - but you'll have to show up to see what thats all about.
This is Jan Lee's last trail work session at Lebanon before he moves away! Jan is a trail boss and has recruited probably the majority of us. Come show your support for the trails AND for Jan as he and his wife Paula go off to find a better place and build better trails.. (or so he thinks hehe)
See ya tonight!

The loppers and snippers will be packed! The weather men were calling rain/thunder tonight, but we'll see as the day progresses. Watch the weather web sites!

Cool, thanks for letting me know - I didn't realize it was possibly going to rain on us. (shame on me - a few dry days in a row and I get complacent about the weather)
Hopefully it will hold off until after, or avoid us entirely.
(although my lawn is kinda drying up now... )

I will be out there again tonight!
Unfortunately I will not be able to get home after work, so I will not be able to bring along any trimmers or anything... Sorry, but I will have my hands and work gloves! Just point me in the right direction!
For any of you that are considering but haven't been out yet I would strongly recommend that you take advantage of the opportunity to help out if you can make it! Last week was my first week and I can tell you that you will be amazed at the amount and the quality of work that takes place!
Not only will you help out, but even with my miniscule (sp?) contribution last week, riding the trail takes on a whole new meaning. There is a small sense of ownership (I can't imagine how John and the others that are out there weekly feel) that leads into a different type of experience.
Don't mean to get to "emotional" here, but give it a shot if you can make it! You will not be disappointed!

So far the sky doesn't look too ominous. It actually doesn't look bad at all right now. Either way, count me in!

I'll be there along with a friend - who has the scariest avatar John has ever seen.
All I have is my gloves. No tools - unless the MINI counts! :)

Good news John...I'm going to start spending Tuesday's in my Minnetonka office which means I'll be able to get to Leb in time for trail work come Sept.

so what happened last night? i was going to try to make it, but i didn't get out of the office until 5:30 and i think i would have been laughed out of the park if i had showed up wearing my office clothes. is there ever work done on any other trail system on a regular basis?

That's why I pack work clothes with me in the morning! :) We cut a new intermediate trail that will skirt the top double track. Should be really nice when its done. There's a couple nice rocky sections that should be easy enough, but still provide a challenge to intermediate riders. It might be ready to ride this fall, I hope.

A huge thanks to everyone that showed up last night to help us cut that trail. Hopefully we'll be finishing that one up come September when we start up trailwork again.
We had a great showing last night for Jan's last Lebanon trail work session. You guys rule!
For those that did not make it, we did some pre-cutting on a new bypass trail that we'll now submit to Dakota County as part of our fall new trail proposals. Having the trail rough cut like that really helps when we get out there to GPS and walk the trail if necessary with the land managers.
Once approval is given to Dale Gundberg from Dakota County, then we can go in with crews and/or machines and start actually working it into new trail - hopefully in September.
Enjoy the month of August off! It worked well last year to take a break from trail work at Leb, then come back in the fall refreshed and ready to tackle new things. Stay tuned for more info on this as we get close to the end of August.
Until then - there are still trailwork sessions going on at Harmon, and we could think about doing some Tuesday night group rides or something like that...
Thanks again everyone! This has been a really great year for trail building...
