Hi everyone. This is my first post, and the talk of LH is perfect for my first post. Friday was my first ride at LH...ever. It was awesome. I have been mountain biking for over 8 years now, and 5 of those years were up here in the twin cities.

All I ever used to hear about LH was that it was a short version of Murphy, and that it was suited for racers. I, not being into racing, made no effort to go to LH.

After about 2 years off from riding trail, untill last summer, I am now searching for good single track again. On a whim, a friend and I took off for LH for something different. LH is faster and twist and turnier than all the others in the metro. Battle Creek remains my favorite within the metro, because it has (what I feel) some longer, and better climbs. Lebanon is a close second. Many things that I never expected to find on a Minnesota trail are at LH.

Thanks to those who made LH what it is. If you hear a guy with a loud White Industries hub on a bright yellow bike... that's probably me.

Where are your usual haunts of Battle is you Favorite Metro Trail?

I find The Farm, Theo, and LH to be my favorite. If I want climbing, I take the time and go down to Memorial or Holzinger.

Battle Creek is alot of fun and work is being to to add a little more technical challenges along with the climbs there.

Glad to see your finding new trails to ride and are enjoying them.

I'll keep an Eye out and give you a wave if I see you.

Theoworth? I haven't been there. Or Memorial. I'm not exactly a climbing fan... I just think that every great ride needs one big climb, or a lot of up and down like LH has. Lebanon is a place that I know I can ride with a fury.

If I were to list in order my favorite rides, it would go like this.

Snake Creek - Epic rides (haven't been there in 5 years)
Battle Creek - good ballence, nice views
Lebanon Hills - fast and technical
Mt Kato - good ballence, a mighty ride
Elk River - singletrack tourture of the brain
Floyd (in Iowa) - Fast with ballence, nice creek crossings
The River Bottoms - Fast, can be a little too easy
Buck Hill - haven't riden in years
Afton Alps - good climbing
Teras Oaks - some what easy, poor finish (the gravel road)
Ossage (Iowa) - fast and easy, good for beginners

I have been to the Farm once, and it was 2 days after a hard rain. Not knowing what the trail was like, I ended up walking my bike a whole lot. My treads filled to slicks type traction instantly. So I am waiting for good conditions before I pass judgment.

Wow, so much praise for Lebannon lately!

I'm sure John's collecting it all for a huge scrapbook. ;)
