Many cities use the sale of bricks that are engraved with the benefactor's name to pave town squares, park walkways etc...
Why not sell the oportunity to have your name engraved on a rock on the trail!
Personally, my blood has engraved several already, I think It'd be fun to see what kind of responce we'd get to this idea.

While it is a great idea, and I am not yet a MORC member (which I just filled out the form finally!!). I think that having a "rock" will give mtn bike trails that all to familar "museum quality" A sort of I bought more than you because I can type of deal.
Also $50 is a lil high for a lot of people, myself included at this time. I would like to see possbily different days for trail work myself, as I work during all the current ones :( So I cannot get out there and help out like I should and would like to.
I do fully appreciate MORC and all the work they do. I feel they are a underappreciated group and resource in this state. They have done nothing but good for every trail they have touched.
It is also hard to get people to understand MORC that have never heard of them or ever seen this site. Maybe put up a post at every trail-head explaining MORC and why you should join with contact info??
I just wish there was some way to get mtn biking "healthier" again as it once was 5-6 years ago. it seems to me (from working in a shop and racing) that mtn bike participation and morale is not what it once was, I miss the old feel and wish it to be back.
How about some kinda fundraiser at the current races and set things out at EVERY shop in the cities/state. After all MORC has no competition between shops it should try and bring us all together like we should be :) Possibly have trail events with the trail days? Such as a big ass cookout at Murphy this fall where everyone brings stuff for everyone. I guess a big mtb potluck where we all get to meet each other, ride, eat and have fun!!
I dunno.....sort of a ramble....sorry if it makes no sense, but im tired :)

I've left my mark in a few places, and helped build a couple of things. I think that is the best way to contribute. I love riding over things I've helped build.
On the other hand, some people have more money than time and I'm sure MORC could use a few dollars. However, I'm not sure how I, MORC or the Park people would feel about 'signs' with names on them throughout the park....I seem to remember that Mr. Lundell mentioned that it was not supported by the park.

I love that people are coming up with ideas. Ideas are good! I voted that I'd pay over $50 - but I don't know if the local land managers would be too receptive of something like this. Who knows though, its not like it is advertising.
The concept is great though. We need to think of ways to raise awareness of MORC and help people realize what we're all about.
A MORC membership seems (at least to me) a bare minimum that people should be doing. Aside from maybe one or two riders I have seen, the membership fee is a very VERY small % of the total cost to get into the sport.
What if we were like skiing? I know a few people that don't hesitate to shell out $40 to ski for a day (double a yearly MORC membership).
Anyway, I'm preaching to the choir on this one. I like the ideas - keep em' coming...

Dont yell at me for this one :)
How about somehow regulating all the major mtn trails with payboxes and then have a yearly fee of say $100-$150 that gives you free parking pass?!?!? Then set the daily fee up at around $2 or so. I have no idea how it would be enofrced, if needed at all, but I would pay that amount and more for all the work that is done and the great trails we have here.
