Just thought I'd expand alittle from what I put in the trail conditions.
There are a few more trees down that are either partially blocking or completely blocking the trail (blocking occurs mostly on the west trail).....please slow down on your next trip through until you're familiar with where these are!
Water....of course there are puddles on the trail after all of the rain we've had, but the trail is ok to ride in most places but (and this is a big but) there are places you'll need to walk your bike......please please please if you can not go slow enough to go avoid the soft ground/puddles then do NOT ride this trail at this time!
The majority of the trial under the canopy is dry (especially in the sandy areas)....east portion is wetter than the west.
Again if you can't avoid the soft ground (there isn't too much of it) then please stay off...if you can't resist getting full of mud and grime from riding through these sections please ride somewhere else (like Iowa)

Anyone up for taking charge of a maintenance session? The Trail could use some serious trimming. You just need to pick a day. I'll help get the word out and notify the proper authorities. You will need to arrange with Dale Gundberg to get the morc tools. Make a list of volunteers and time spent to plug time into the morc trail work portion the web site. Then have at it. You can make the trail much more enjoyable for you and other users. Who's up for it?
Dennis.

AT SAVAGE MN... THE STAGE WAS 693.52 FEET AT 900 AM SATURDAY. FLOOD STAGE IS 698.0 FEET. THE RIVER IS FORECAST TO CREST NEAR 696.2 FEET EARLY WEDNESDAY MORNING... WHICH IS BELOW FLOOD STAGE. AT 698.0 FEET, LOW LYING AREAS AND SOME ROADS ALONG THE RIVER BEGIN TO EXPERIENCE FLOODING.
Just something I found at the NOAA site. If more rain falls the Minnesota River may crest above flood this week. I haven't seen the river bottoms yet this week and any additions to this post would be helpful.

Yeah the MN River was higher yet yesterday...trail is wet in spots and taking alot of damage...if people would slow down you can ride around the wet spots (but again I did have to walk around 2 yesterday)...I even saw one guy without a shirt just covered in muck....wanted to call him a ()@*#&$(*@&#$ but I restrained myself
Ohh...and a big tree completely blocking the East trail about 1 mile from the trail head...you can carefully make it under but you'll get a few minor scratches

I ment to write something about the river bottoms on the 4th of july..but I ended up spending a few days away from the computer. (now my wife loves me again0
The trail had a ton of down branches from the storms the days prior and was site wet is some spots. The worse spot was the first 2 miles from the west entrance. I noticed that there were 2 major reroutes because of large trees down. They must have been down for awhile because the new path was pretty clear. i rode about 3pm and there were about 20 riders on the trail.
Most everyone looked like me, spattered with mud, enjoying the nice day.
