I will be staying in a cabin about halfway up the Gunflint Trail over the 4th of July weekend and want to bring the MTB up for some riding. Last year I brought my bike and was only able to find forest roads, some grassy ski trails, etc. Does anybody know if there is any singletrack to be found up along the Gunflint Trail? I'd rather not have to drive the bike back down to Lutsen or Pincushion to ride.
Thanks!

On your way up, stop and talk to Mark and Melinda Spinler at Superior North Outdoor Center, in Grand Marais. (It's a little bike shop located behind Sven and Ole's) Mark has been working on some singletrack projects in that area, but more importantly, he is reputed to know "every inch" of ridable trail in the Gunflint/Tofte area. You can also e-mail him at "bike@boreal.org"
Have fun. The Moose have been more active than normal, but the army worms are supposedly much fewer this year.
Ride safe,

Thank you for the advice. I stopped in at that shop last year and got a nice map, but the chap there told me there is little singletrack on th Gunflint. I was hoping something new had popped up or someone knew differently.
I wrote to Mark.
Thanks again.
