Over 1" of rain in the last 24 hours, some slow, some in bursts. Nasty rain, soaked in pretty bad creating bad trail conditions.
No grand opening I'm afraid... in fact I'd probably say that the Saturday rides anyone has planned should be cancelled.
Bummer!!!

"Nobody cares about the forest any more" Treebeard the Ent in the "LOTR: The Two Towers."
While you were snivelling about the rain down here in the Cities, it was dry in the Chippewa National Forest, and only a few riders actually went out on the trails. :cryin:
Why yes, I did ride on National Trails Day! :D
Ride safe,

I just got a flash flood warning for Dakota County tonight... so... if you plan on riding this week, perhaps this evening is the right time.
Bummer - I think M. Nature doesn't want us to open the XX loop or something...
As always, remember not to ride on wet trails... so enjoy them while they are dry! I'm heading home from work right now... see ya'll out there...

Darn Weather channel daily email...said no chance of rain until this weekend.....and of course I didn't notice the clouds coming up until I was about 1/2 way through my 2nd lap
BTW: I thought I was leaving early to go riding.....guess not....I didn't leave until 3:45, I need a job at your employer John

Shhhh! ;) The good thing about being in Information Services is that I can always say "I'm headed to the data center" then get detoured to the trails along the way.. hehe.
It looks like we might get dumped on tonight, then a chance the next few days... but then things look promising later in the week. Perhaps we can shoot for a Friday or Sat. XX loop opening...
Hmmm....

So... it appears we may have escaped that "flash flood" last night - my weatherbug actually shows just a trace of rain around Lebanon.
If we escape today's rain, the question becomes.. do we take a chance and open up the XX hoping we escape any rain on Wed/Thursday and take advantage of the supposed nice stretch of days through the weekend?
Any opinions?
We could always close it down again if it rained enough to make it harmful. It is really basically one trail work session (tonight) away from being ready...

I say open it up...Thursday's forecast is still only Isolated T-Storms
