First of all, I have to say that the Afton Avalanche was awesome.

I found a flier at the Afton Avalanche saying that there was going to be tuesday night races but I can't find any info on the mnscs website or any other websites. Does anybody know what the deal is with these races? I did a couple of them last year and they were a lot of fun.

I rode at Afton on Saturday morning (I was too hungover from a wedding to do the race on Sunday) and asked what the deal was with the races. They do plan to have them, but it was unclear when they will start, how many there will be and who is going to be in charge of them. They were also talking about having them start from the Highlands chalet up top, rather than the meadows chalet in the valley. I'll be out there sometime this week again, so I'll try to get more info.

Cheers

During patrol on Sunday I got some pictures and will be doing up a trail review on Afton soon. It was a pretty nice place to ride, although I'd have liked to see the Citizen and Sport class get to ride more of the "fun" stuff... those routes looked rather boring.

Now I really can't wait for the 24 hours of Afton!

I rode Afton last night and got a look at one of the flyers:

Tuesday night races:

Registration: 5:15pm to 6:25 pm (race at 6:15)
Location: Highlands chalet (the golf clubhouse)

cost: $10 for non-members, $3 for members (ie: $10 minus the $7 trail fee)

Classes: Citizen, Sport, Expert with prizes for top 3 finishers.

dates: starts today (June 3rd) and I think it runs through the first part of August (? not sure)

Cheers;

Steve

What is the difference in the classes? I did some BMX when I was a kid. I don't think they had this. It was every kid themself. Other than that just the 24 hour solo at Afton.

Citizen, Sport, Expert?

citizen = beginners or people that don't have time to really formally train.

sport = average guys like me that get to train quite a bit

expert = those guys are really, really fast
