Ok, this Tuesday you have a choice of what you want to do... help build the initial pieces of a teeter-totter at Lebanon during regular trail building day (as well as finish off the rest of the hand trail work so we can open it up) - or, if you have previously helped out at Lebanon with trail work you are invited to the QBP event (see the calendar)
We do hope a few will select to help out with the teeter. This would allow the IMBA crew to do our advanced trail work and finish the teeter off so that it would be there and available for the grand opening (hopefully next weekend sometime!)
We are holding our "advanced" trail building field work at Lebanon next Friday and Saturday and hope to build the teeter, a log ride and a few other cool things with the guidance of the IMBA Trail Care Crew... then we have the option to open the trail officially.
I'd like to see those that have actually shown up to help out get first tracks on the officially opened trail if possible... even though there have been poachers, I think it would be great to let those that have been out there building to get in there early. I'll see what can be done about that.
So, if you read this and think you will be coming to actual trail building next Tuesday, please reply to this post. It would be nice to see if we'll have enough to be able to handle doing the teeter footings.
Thanks!

This Tuesday we are definitely going to pour the footings for the new teeter that was built today (to be placed somewhere in the XX loop).
We need a few guys to show up, and if anyone has a post hole digger (or two) that would be really cool if you could bring them... please let us know if you will be there and if you have one of these items that we could use to help dig the holes out with.
Otherwise I gotta make a Home Depot run... ;)
The teeter will be put in place as part of the Advanced Trail Building class on Friday or Saturday. It is 16' long, 18" wide, will sit on a 20" tall frame and looks just like the bridges we put in (but not as wide). It weighs in at 150lbs and cost about $150 or more in materials. (MORC paying the bill as always)
Hope to see some of you there???

John,
I have a post hole digger I'll bring today. I have to work patrol for the Tuesday night IMBA ride.
James
I will plan to be there Tuesday and I can bring a posthole digger.

Sweet, thanks! With that and the one James brought, that makes the 2 we need for Tuesday. Much appreciated!!
Hope others can come show up as well.. without some help, we might not get this teeter ready to be finalized at Friday's IMBA Advanced Trail School...
BTW: Like my new avatar? Me gettin' some air on the new table top at the XX loop (Lebanon, of course) - photo taken by Kurt Lange (nice job Kurt!)

...and wearing your new NMBP jersey, too.
So much for being a role model. Maybe we can get them to bring back "Pacific Blue" for you. :eyeroll:
RIDE SAFE!

;) Nothing slips by you Hans!
... of course I was doing special covert patrol training where we simulate the need to jump over your victim first in order to get to a safer place to give better care.
(kidding.. KIDDING! hehe)

I've gotta confer with the Wife about this weekend too. We had to sign up, right? I'll look into it tonight for this weekend(I'd only be able to nake the weekend shifts though, does that matter? I've been to a trail building party by IMBA before-went up to Chequemgon to help with the new ST at Telemark). But I will be there for tomorrow-unless my brick of a truck craps out on me that is....

Sounds like the grand opening will be around 11:30am this Saturday, weather permitting.
The only bad news is that we'll have no teeter available for the opening. Some negotiationa nd thinking needs to happen still with the county. Our trail steward Dale Gundberg is working hard with Dakota on these things, so lets give him some space and be glad we have an XX loop at all to open up. The last thing we want to do is pressure our land managers into something they aren't ready for.
The teeter will come in time I'm sure... when doing things with approval they can take time, but once approved we don't have to worry about it and can enjoy them more.
Stay tuned for more info on this event. Would be fun to see a lot of riders out there Saturday (even though we'll still be out there having advanced trail building.. please be careful for trail workers)
Note that IMBA will actually be using our teeter design as a base for a new "standard" design. Pretty cool!
