Hey everyone,

(Cross-post from the Lebanon Hills topic)

I just wanted to announce that the Minnesota Cycling Team and Bent Crank Racing will be running the second annual Lebanon Hills Mountain Bike Time Trial this year. The tentative date is May 17th, 2003.

Format will be the same as last year - there will be an individual time trial event and a team relay event immediately following. Riders can participate in both events if they wish. The course is roughly 3/4 singletrack and will feature almost all of the new singletrack built by MORC in the last two years (course subject to change).

There will be more info as this develops - we will have the race flyer posted as soon as we have enough of the details finalized. Note: there will be a discount for pre-registration this year so be sure to watch for the web site.

Thanks!

Andy Kruse

Now that the Spring Cup is over, many of you may be interested in the Lebanon Time Trials. Rumor is they may be running the expert loop this year as part of the course!

The time trials are May 17th. It would be nice if you are not doing the time trials that day if you could possibly ride at a later time or at another area that day to keep the trail open for the people doing the trials.

More info to be posted soon..

... and preregistration is still open. Deadline is Wednesday, May 14th, so get them in the mail today if you want the $5 discount for preregistering.

I just got a big box full of stuff from QBP and Salsa Cycles on Friday and man, all I got to say is with all this stuff and the stuff we're getting from other sponsors, I can't imagine how anyone would go home empty handed. A big thanks to QBP/Salsa and all our other sponsors!!

Some other racing perks if you come out:

Plenty of food and water
Free Massages from Lake Pointe Chiropractic
Buy a MORC membership in person.....
and best of all, a nonchalant low-key atmosphere!

Also, as a reminder, due to Dakota County Parks regulations we need everyone to park out at the School of Environmental Studies which is about 1/2 mile south of the trailhead on Johnny Cake Ridge Road. Look at it as a good opportunity to spin the legs out before the race...

Also just a friendly request to everyone planning to do some recreational riding this Sat. to please try not to ride during the Time Trials at Lebanon. They start at 10am and go through early afternoon (I assume).

We can't turn people away at the trailhead... but, it would be a courtesy to the racers for you not to be out there.

I think it is safe to say you can come watch though... anyone willing to bring a digital camera and get some photos for the web site?

Check out the race flyer link further down in this thread for more information and a route map. (yes, they will be riding the expert loop this year!!)

Gopherhockey...do you know the times yet so I can be sure to get the heck out of there before they start. Nothing I hate worse than showing up to ride and finding a race going on (so if nothing else at least I guess we know the date)

Andy Kruse and company did a super job with this event - I was honored to be able to help out and be a part of it. I hope next year will be even more successful with more and more riders... the event was very professionally done.

Patrol-wise, there were no major injuries - just a few small scrapes and bruises.

Time-wise - it sounded like somewhere around 42:00 was the quickest 2-lap time at Lebanon including the expert & warm-up loops. Thats pretty quick... I'm sure Andy will have the results posted on his web site sometime soon.

Great job Andy - way to go!

To everyone that missed it... you.. well.. missed out.

John,

A personal thanks for allowing me to get 2 laps in before closing the trail this morning

On a side note I guess I should have stuck around...according to my cat I did 2 laps in 45 mins (and I thought I was going slow)

Thats a great time - I think there were only like 3 people faster than that.

Hopefully next year we'll get more people to show up and try it out. Heck, I might even do the trial instead of patrol next time.

It was a really cool event. Just like Buck, it is the type that I can see appealing to both racers and non-racers looking to just have a great time riding.

Hello once again and thanks to everyone who came out and raced, spectated, or volunteered for this years' Lebanon Hills Time Trial and Team Relay. We were once again blessed with the best weather of the spring yet, with not a cloud in the sky at start time. Thanks also to QBP, Salsa Cycles, PricePoint.com, Clif Bar, Pedros, Tonka Cycle and Ski, and numerous other sponsors for making this event what it was. I think everyone who hung around until the end of the awards ceremony went home with some swag.

Plan to be around for 2004.... Bent Crank Racing, MORC and MCT will have even bigger and better things planned.
