Hey I go to school at the school of mines in Golden, CO

I have found a fair amount of cool rides nearby including Green Mountain, Red Rocks, dakota ridge, matthew winters, white mountain ranch, bear creek lake park, mount falcon, apex, chimney gulch, and lookout mountain.

If you know of any other good rides within a 1 hour drive of golden, or want to know about any of these rides, let me know!
Always looking for another place to ride....

thanks

Paul,

Hey there, I graduated from Mines back in '94. Started riding in that area around '90. One that you didn't mention is Elk Meadows up in Evergreen. I know Jefferson County was rotating parks for a few years and that was one that was off limits to Mtn. Bikes every other year, but it is a great ride!!!

By the time I left in '94, most of Boulder was off limits to bikes and I am not sure what they have done since then. There are also some amazing rides up near Frisco. I bit more than an hour if you drive legally, but well worth the trip... I honestly don't know the names of any of the trails, but any of the shops up there can help you out...

Also, right out of Idaho Springs, there are some great tech. trails, stop by the discount mtn. store off the second exit on I-70 and they will send you in the right direction!

Good luck at mines, it's a great school, and enjoy the trails out there, you are in some rare land! (Also, if you get a chance on a slow afternoon, swing by the Yeti shop there in Golden, they are a great group of guys and build some amazing bikes!)

Paul,

There aren't many of us out there period, much less here in Minnesota! (mines graduates that is... ) My undergrad degree is in Engineering (Mech. Specialty)

Yeti is located over near the intersection of I70 and 6th Ave. Corporate Circle if I remember correctly... Just give them a call and set up a time and they are usually more than willing to take people through the shop! (they moved out there in the late 90's I believe) After a brief stint being owned by Volant (of Steel Ski fame) and then some type of connection to Schwinn, they were bought back by the original owners in late 2001 I believe...

Definitely check out Elk Meadows (assuming it is an "open" year) It is easy to find, right off the main road heading into Evergreen, and really a great ride. Pretty long if I remember right and definitely has some technical sections. After years of riding, there were still spots that I just could never get through... 3,000+ vert as well, so not a walk in the park.

as long as your in Evergreen, may as well check-out, 3 Sisters park. It is just up the road from Evergreen High. To get there, head south at the main intersection in downtown evergreen (by the falls), then hang a right at the light infront of the library, cruz up that road about maybe a mile past the High School, parking lots on your right. have fun. P. S. no restrictions @Elk Meadows
