View Full Version : Taking it upon yourself...

This is to those of you who took it upon yourselves to clear out the logs we had placed accross the final drop out of Lebanon:

Why would you do that? What makes you think you know more about the trails... enough that gives you the right to remove the hard work that others put in to better our trails and our relationships with the land managers.

What do you plan to gain by doing that? You make us have to replace them and/or carry in even more. If you continue to do it, we'll end up closing the entire downhill entirely since you can't leave well enough alone.. then where will you be?

There are so many people willing to give their time and efforts to the trails and to learn why we do things on the trails. Why don't you show up for trail work sessions if you think you have a better way of doing something, rather than making changes where they don't belong.

Leave the trail alone. If you don't like something, at least have the nads to speak up here about it like some have... don't go out there blazing your own trails. One of these times one of our trail volunteers will catch you doing it, and then.. well... :fool: -> :hit:

I'm grinding my fists into my palms as we speak. I'll "take care of it."

I am meeting with Dale G. and the Chief of the Dakota County Park Patrol this afternoon. Let's see if we can get some patrollers on those trails, quickly.

I will kep you posted.

Ride safe,
Hans

LOL

I agree, though. Despite my feelings on having to slow down that section, if it's what's best for the trail, it's what has to be done. I use this forum to speak my mind and would never undo trailwork.

On a side note, I got messed up at battle creek yesterday- and no, I will not be suing Ramsey county for my stupidity. It's interesting, though; I think I may have instinctively used my body to protect my bike. It's all sorta fuzzy, but the bike hasn't a scratch on it, and I've got a hematoba (read huge nasty bloody bruise) on my thigh and cuts all over.:hit:

Dang.. as a new member of the National Mountain Bike Patrol, I'm itching to run accross my first casualty... you need a sam splint or some traction?

I had an obscure movie reference in my posting too, but nobody caught on to it.

How about:

"Do you think you're going to like driving when you learn how?"

Ride safe,

Well, your first movie reference wasn't obscure. Everyone knows that classic Frankenstien bit.

Now, as for your newest quote ... I'm stumped!

Okay, then start up a new thread: "Trivia"

Who won the TDF more times than anyone else?

What country was he from?

How's that? It's even bike related.

Now get yourself to First Aid Class!!!!:fool:

Well, four riders have won the Tour 5 times, but the Spaniard Miguel Indurain won it 5 times in a row. Jaques Anquetil, Eddy Merckx, and Bernard Hinault won 5 over the course of 6 or more tries.

Tougher quation - Will Cippo get the record for # of stage wins in the Giro de Italia?

And what are these roadie questons doing on this board?

TrailPatrol

...is a "closet roadie" anyhow? I own one bike, a Trek 930SHX Mountain Bike and I am going back and forth between a Trek Fuel 80 and a Trek Police Bike, both of which are also Mountain Bikes for my second bike. (I am mostly looking for an aluminum frame, so I can ride earlier/later in the season.) That being said, I am a "touring" rider, not a "singletracker." I truly enjoy riding down forest roads and fire trails, setting up camp for the night, then moving on in the morning. I get claustophobic on closed courses!

Even the venerable Trek 520 Loaded Touring Bike would have a hard time on some of the roads I ride. (Maybe I'm a "back-roadie!") My dream bike would be a Bruce Gordon "Rock n' Road" off-road touring bike, with my BoB trailer.

Maybe Lance is a "closet mountain biker." I've seen those Subaru commercials! You have OR trivia, let's have it!

No kidding! You'd think if Lance takes a WRX out on a dirt road at 100+ mph he'd think to himself "I wonder what this would feel like on a bike?"

:D

Since Armstrong has been in a handfull of Mountain Bike races I don't think he could be describes as "closeted"

I would be willing to bet that if he "retired" from road racing and switched to MTB he could be the first american to be a threat in the world cup in quite a while.
