I am just wondering if anyone has used or owned one and what they think.

gee, could you be a little more specific ;]
mine is a ss, w/discs, marz fork.
it turned out to be the same cockpit size as my ss 26" custom
2circles. it's longer wheelbase makes it a slower turner but not by much. it takes about 5 minutes to adjust.
very fast. very fast. extremely stable on singletrack. easy to hop.
rolls over trail stuff better than a 26. loves logs, roots, rocks.
anything else you wanna know??

Mines a SS as well, but rigid fork(for now) and disc brakes. Wheel base is 43", 3/4" longer than my 26". Again, my cockpit is identicle. The bike is blisteringly fast on nearly everything, save for super tight trails(think sections of Theo Wirth here), and there its just as fast as a 26". I've been riding mine for two seasons now, and I can honestly say I can't see my self 'going back'. It's a rolicking good ride at Lebanon.

I rented one out in Durango and I liked it. It felt pretty weird for the first 1/2 hour or so, but then I got used to it. I think looking at the big wheel throws you off a bit.
It rolled over everything really well and it was light enough... I didn't notice enough improvement to make me want one though.

I bought a GF Supercaliber29r last year, I raced it throughout the season, and I totally loved it. I have several other bikes, but this is the one I would go to for the trails around here every time. It is super comfortable, and I know that I am faster on this bike than any of the other 26" Wheeled bikes that I have. Confidence is a powerful thing, and I am very confident on this bike. I sold this bike a couple of months ago and bought an '03 model, new colors, and disc hubs. I don't know if I am going to convert it to disc brakes, I have XTR brakes on it now, and they are fine. I raced my 29r at the Leadville 100 last year, and I absolutley would not want any other bike for that. The rolling terrain of the middle 40 miles of this race flew by, and I made up huge amounts of time through that section. (similar to what you would see at Chequamagon) The climbing sections of the race reminded me why I love hardtail bikes, they just climb. The Genesis Geometry of the Fisher 29r's suits me perfectly (I have raced GF's the last four years), and I descended the Powerline super aggressively. I have only one gripe, and that is the Marzocci Fork, the ECC sucks, the lockout occurs when you push down on the fork, but it always creeps back up. Not a huge issue, but the fork is not as smooth as the SID Race that came on my Supercaliber (26") the year before. I think you should keep your eye out for the Trek/Fisher/Klein test days which is held in the spring at Lebanon. they usually have a Mt. Tam 29r there, and you can check that out. I love the 29r, and I am glad that I own one.

Steve, can you convert it to disc brakes? I was poking around at the shop the other day looking at the "new" Fisher bikes and noticed that they put disc compatible hubs on the wheels, but no ISO mount on the frame? What's yours look like for a mount for the caliper?

here's the # for the IS disc mount for fisher's and possibly trex..
#210648 [IS mount]
and
#210821[boltz]
and fisher/trex dealer can order these. seems kinda silly the frames aren't built w/ this mount already there....

I rode 29ers on a Sugar 2 in South Dakota, it was some bike shop dudes race bike. I was skeptical at first, and still am, because big tire equals more rotational inertia, so they are slower to acclerate, but on the flip side this also means once you get going they will carry your momentum better. They were some sweet wheels, and man those things will ride over freakin anything! I love em, but I still love my 26ers too.
