Noticed this trail wasn't on here. I went only once last year and it was beaten up pretty bad. Didn't seem as fun as it once did, plus it's way out East of town and you have to pay $7 to ride.

Any thoughts on this trail? Any plans to work something out with the management out there to fix/revamp the trail to make it more rideable? Seems like it suffers a bit in the fun department because of the long, torturous uphills. Is it just me, or are trails designed like that becoming somewhat a thing of the past? I only ask because of how Lebannon was remade to take out the long, hard, ride-straight-up-hill-until-you-have-a-heart-attack sections and replaced them with miles of actually fun trails. :)

Trail review with pictures now online. Click the "trails" link above.

As always, it would be great to get pictures from people that are more action shots than plain trail photos. Please feel free to submit your Afton photos at any time.

Enjoy...

I notice that the summary says 7.5 miles in 35 minutes. That seems Hurculean to me. I've been doing the full 24-hour loop which comes out to 7 miles on my computer and I get it done just under an hour. The fastest lap of the winning team last year was just under 37 minutes.

I think Afton is awesome with technical climbs and descents. I die every time I ride it but I think that's what riding a bike is all about.

Yup, if I want a REAL mtb ride, the ONLY place locally to get it is Afton.

I have to say that after riding Afton last year for the first time, I was hooked. I would go more but it costs money to ride and I live to close to free trails. I had always heard that Afton had too much climbing which I hate. I knew I was gonna be doing the 24 hrs so I went twice before the race and loved it. Yes it has some big climbs, but who cares. Take a break or walk it. I have. The singletrack was aggressive and challenging and the downhills were really fun which made the trail worth it in my mind. The builders out there have done an awesome job to get it where it is right now and I find it to be a trail that kicks your a$$! I like that its not like any other trail in the cities and one more option that I have. I actually was thinking of hitting it this weekend some time. You should ride it again Chris, I know you'll like it if you aren't racing it.:etard:

I'm betting this is old/outdated information....

If you want to go on July 4th, post up and I'll meet you out there and have a free pass for you. I'm thinking of riding at noon. Hope to hear from you.

I would love to go out there today....but can't. I have to be at a family function at 1. I'm about to go riding right now and a little closer to home. I was thinking fri. sat. or sun. for sure. I also want to hit Memorial one of those days. I haven't hit either Mem. or afton yet this year and I'm getting bored.:etard:
