Well, I was out on a road ride on Sunday and I utilized the pedestrian bridge to get back north of the river again and I saw several vehicles with racks in the parking lot. However, as we all know that doesn't necessarily mean the trail is rideable.

BUT knowing that the river is pretty low right now I can imagine we'll have a very early rideable River trail compared to other years, barring a week of solid rain in the next three weeks to a month.

The raft is still out though, and now with no ice, we have no creek crossing. I dunno when it'd be put in.

I went for a short hike on Saturday afternoon west of Normandale through the Izaak Walton property. It was a bit muddy in spots, particularly within the Izaak Walton property itself. (Of course, that was after Friday's snow/sleet event, so that may have contributed to it.) I also saw muddy ruts from the early season riders who just had to get out and ride early.

I also checked out the east section (near the picnic tables east of Lyndale) earlier last week, and the trail was in pretty good condition there. That was before the snowstorm, though.

A buddy of mine and I plan to try this trail Saturday. I'll post here what we find out about the conditions. =)

If some of you are willing, we have our new trail conditions page online at www.morcmtb.org/forums/trail.php - we could use some people that might be willing to get online after they ride and post condition updates both here in the forums and on the trail conditions page. We are hoping to really push the trail conditions page to people this summer to get everyone used to looking before they ride... (e.g. save a trip out to Elk River if they just had 3" of rain...)
