Tim Wegner and I had a chance to go out last Sunday and walk around in Murphy checking out the trails and looking for new routes etc. That is one large area! If we are allowed to go into much of the park we'd guess a good 12 mile main loop to start, with lots of fun trails off the main loop.

Of course we're just talking and dreaming right now.

Oh - we did see one rider was out there in the last week. Apparently people can't even read signs at a park that REALLY knows how to post trail closed signs.

Seeing how all the trails are just up and down the fall line there, I have to wonder... why.. even when dry I can't see myself riding there very often.

DOH!!!!!

Sorry Tim and John,

I completely forgot about going out to Murphy Yesterday.

I will agree with John that the park is set up perfectly for an extensive stacked loop trail system.

Because that is what makes good Nordic ski trails... Murphy, as is, **IS** primarily a nordic ski trail... don't forget that.... Mountain bikes are just sort of a late summer diversion there. Good Chequamegon training though.

And thats exactly why I had to ponder why anyone would go there of all places to poach a trail. As is, nothing but ski trails. Ups and downs, yes... improvements coming soon... YES! ;)

As long as poachers don't ruin it for us before we even get the chance, that is..
