Just thought a post on this might be interesting. On Sunday, April 27, 2003 the Minnesota Ironman Bike Ride will be occuring. This is a one day recreational bicycle ride of either 30, 68, or 100 miles. This ride draws around 5,000 riders. The ride is on pavement and the course will start and end in Lakeville, MN. It is called the Ironman because you never know what the weather will be, and they run it no matter what happens, sleet, snow, hail, gusting winds, etc. I am going to ride my mountain bike and will choose to do 30 miles. It costs 25.00 dollars to enter, with aid stations with food, beverages, and bike support from local shops, and Park Tool being the lead sponser. I think this would be a good chance to show support for the MORC organization and have a good turn out at this event. At the least, most of us could meet and become acquainted with one another and have a fun time ridding as a group.

I've been riding the Ironman for years, it's a great ride - very well oraganized. The weather is really unpredictable, which makes it fun.

There are a ton of riders who ride thier mtb. In fact, last year, I got thoroughly whooped by a group of guys on full suspension rides and cyclo-cross bikes, while I was on my road bike. Which reminded me why I wasn't racing.

I hope to be riding the 100 (on my road bike) again this year.
