OK--here is the deal. DNR would like to have a video to post on their website under the heading of "things you have to do in Minnesota." One of those things will be ride the Cuyuna trails on your mountain bike starting spring of 2011.

What I am looking for is someone with a helmet cam and maybe a seatpost cam to ride the trails at Cuyuna and provide video for the dnr site. No pay is involved and not sure about recognition. What you will get is to be one of the very first people to ride this system before others are allowed on the trail.

I will be on site on September 16-19th and would like to have the video done during that time. Maybe it would be best if you pm'd me or responded to my e-mail: twegner50@gmail.com if you are interested

I like this quote :)

Sorry Tim I'm of no help other than that... I have a camera mount on my handlebars but don't think I'll be able to get up that way. CAN'T WAIT FOR SPRING THOUGH!!!!!

I've wanted trail video to play at events the MORC tent is at. Is there any way we could also use a copy of this video when it is produced?

DNR just wants to post on site without paying for the video. If no compensation is given then ownership should stay with the camera person

Don't let my offer of providing equipment to Tim prevent others from volunteering!!

I am positive I can get one camera, and almost as sure I can get 1 or more additional ones.

But someone who has the equipment, and has experience with it, will do much better than a newbie with the best gear.

Anyone have a GoPro Camera? I have seen some of the videos the have on YouTube and am impressed with the quality. HD-video camera for under $300. I would be willing to invest in a camera and do the riding.

Here is a link to a sample. (Please note I have no affiliation with them just think their product is great for the money.)

Hey everyone, thanks for the rapid and generous support on this project. James believes he can provide up to 2 cameras and I have 2 riders offering to wear the things. I think we can get enough footage to make the dnr happy. I will be intouch with the peeps that responded to this post to set up the video.

Just a "lets throw that out there", do you have tripod mounted cameras being used for this also?

I'm all for helmet cam footage and am a big "we need more of this" guys, but if one wanted really show off Cuyuna, I think you would combine the helmet cam footage with tripod mounted shots of mountain bikes hitting some cool stretches of trail. Throw in some dope tunes, some pans of scenic beauty, maybe make sure the thing isn't a complete sausage-fest (i.e. lets see some lady MTBs) and you've got yourself one heck of a promotional video.

Just sayin'.

Josh, that is way beyond my capabilities. If you can pull it off go for it. It will be awwesome to have some great stills as well as video to promote this project so we get tons of riders goin to cuyuna next spring, summer, fall and winter too!

I have a couple HD cameras and a helmet cam I'm willing to lend for this. I might even be able to get up there to help if it's next weekend. I think I'll be up in Pillager next weekend.

shawn that would be great if you can show up with some cameras. I think you will really have a good time riding with us. I will post up on the forums with details about where and when to meet to do the video.

For what it's worth, TV production is what I do for a living and I'd love to do a promotional video in the future. I have access to HD cameras and HD helmet cams as well as my own edit suite.

OK--so here is the plan. All of you that want to either wear the cameras on your helmets or bikes should arrive at the campground North of Crosby on MN Highway 6 around 3 PM on Friday. Anyone that wants to be part of the "video crew" should also show up at that time.

The plan is to shoot some video on Friday PM and again on Saturday. I plan on departing on Sunday AM. That means we can ride and shoot video from Friday through Saturday and a bit of Sunday if we need more video. I will be bringing 2 cameras, provided by James Ford, with me and they will need to be worn by someone. Others of you have offerred your personal cameras and I would encourage you to bring those along with you and use them on the ride.

I will have the "silver bullet" (airstream) and we can use that as the meeting site.

I just realized that we will need someone with editing ability and a computer to download the video from the camera's at the end of each ride. Anyone interested in performing this service??

Tim just called me. He gave the wrong directions to the campground. The campground is north of Ironton on Crow Wing county road 30.
