Great job man! Theo is one of my favorite trails in the Twin cities. It gives you a quick release of endorphins when your day is just plain boring.

In the spirit of constructive criticism; It might be worth it to ride behind someone while taping at times to better illustrate the trail features.

Nice video. Haven't been out to Theo in over a year. May have to try and make it back there again.

I bought the gopro about an hour before I filmed this. It was my first try....maybe next time I will have a rider.

The absence of the uphill rock garden is suspicious!

43 is the new 25. Plus with that big wheeled FS bike it's almost like cheating. Just keep pedaling and don't touch the brakes!
I want to see that Tallboy so let's organize a ride.

Most people who fail (like me!) do so at slow speed. If you can normally get out of your pedals without problems, you should have enough time to unclip and put a foot down. Even those who can't seem to topple slowly and land butt first with no harm done to anything but pride.
FWIW, my record for cleaning the rock armor is abysmal on my 26", but I've been able to start from a dead stop right at the bottom with my 29er and still clean it.

Kinda makes you wonder if trail builders will start increasing the diameter of obstacles placed on the trail in accoradance with increasing wheel sizes...?

Good idea! We need more and harder obstacles in the system. The tendency is for the trail to become easier over time; sometimes intentionally (booo) and sometimes naturally, like rock gardens that fall apart.

I am 42. Busted ankle=NO FUN!!!!! It will be two weeks out of the cast on Monday and my patience is waning. At the same time, witnessing the healing process first hand is kind of interesting.

I like obstacles, but there always be a bypass. Sometimes the people I ride with are of varying skill level and Theo is bad for not having bypasses. For example, on that uphill rock garden, on the right hand side there should be narrow bypass. From the looks of things, it appears there was at one time, but someone put a railroad tie to stop folks.

The main reason the rocks are there is to prevent erosion. The hill is too step to go up without some type of armoring, and there is not enough room for another switchback. If the trail went straight up the hill, there would be a major erosion, and it would require constant maintenance.

The uphill rock armor was not put in to be a feature. It is there to protect the roots of the very old oak trees at the top of the climb. There is not a bypass for this reason. Unarmored trail on either side of the existing armor would compact and erode, eventually damaging or killing those trees.
While I sympathize with riders who find that section difficult ( I can only clear it a small percentage of times ) it is easy to dismount and walk for riders who find it intimidating and a slow speed fall for those who do not succeed.

Great video!
What are those two tracks? Sounded great!
Yeah, Theo still has a few obstacles that I can never get.
The uphill garden, The last log before the jumps towards the end, and on the North Loop that uphill rock obstacle.
The rock garden I understand why I can't make it up.
But the log at the end...geez, Many times I have just circled back and tried it again and again, and I always eat it.
Haha, the one time I almost made it, I lost balance and caught my head on the tree to the left.
It's weird because those much bigger pyramid obstacles I clear no problem, and the nimble board obstacle on the North loop I can go over without flinching.
I am sure it's a case where I've made it bigger than it is, so I tense up anytime I see those 3 things.
Anyway...too much information I'm sure!
