I'm heading up that way this week, is there any open riding available at Giants Ridge or within the area at this time or is it still a work in progress ?

The DH trail that MFC is working on is not open yet. To my knowledge, there are not any other real mountain biking trails there at this point.:cryin:

head on over to Maple Hill Park in Hibbing, or take the drive to Grand Rapids and hit up the Legion Trail!!
Big Aspen is always an option, although this time of year the tall grass will hide all the rocks that will send you O.T.H.!!!

Karl,
Maple Hill Park needs riders!!!
I've mapped out 4 1/2 - 5 1/2 miles. I think there's more than I've mapped. Maybe Drew will see this post and add his take on it.
I think the trails are fun/technical, some pushing uphill (for me). Some of the hills are really step!!
Maple Hill is much more technical than Grand Rapids, but Rapids has much better flow, equaling more fun IMHO. although with that being said, how can a person complain about having singletrack 4 miles from ones back door!!!
You could make a day trip of Maple Hill in the a.m. and Grand Rapids in the afternoon very easily.
PM me when you think you'll be in town, and I'll try to fit in a pedal with ya!!
Peace, Joe

is there any road systems that would create opportunities for shuttling riders for the downhill run?

If I remember right they will shuttle by wheeler for a price. That was many many years ago, say 10 plus.
Call them up and ask.
To be truthful, the ride up isn't that hard, but I'm kind of a sick-o that way!! Lol
I used to use the service roads and they worked just fine to get me to the top.
Good luck!!

Peace, Joe

I'm glad to see some trails being built on the Ridge. We dreamt about building singletrack there 15 years ago, but the movement wasn't established then. I'm glad that Cuyuna is starting to establish destination MTB trails.
