Would anybody mind telling me how to get to the Lester River trails? I would be most likley be riding up Seven Bridges Road from Superior St. Please and thanks.

Going up 7 Bridges Rd you'll pass the parking lot for the ski trails, bike down the hill and just before the next bridge (which is the second) the singletrack starts on your right. There are several areas where it crosses other trails or trails veer off but it's pretty easy to follow. There is a portion near the top that you'll use the snowmobile trail for awhile but generally if you stick to the left you'll stay along the singletrack.
If you ride the east side all the way to the end you'll come out above the sixth bridge (smiley face bridge). Go down the road over that bridge and the singletrack on the west side will start on your right, between the sixth bridge and the parking area.
Here's a map:

Mountain bike trails are in purple on the map.

After a long summer of injury recovery and rehab and I got on my steed and rode Lester last evening for the first time...Did a couple of laps...I have to say it is another great step in Duluth Mountain Biking Options (DMBO). The red pine forest section was particularly fun, especially at speed...Oh yes...Combined with 7BR being closed right now the sounds were mostly water, critters and my heart pounding on some of the uphills, reminding me that being in shape might help..
Thanks for more fun and good trails....

Thanks for the feedback Will and thanks for your support! We hope to keep pumping out more and more DMBO each year!
Big fan of the new Lester trails. Thank you COGGS!
Just curious, which direction does everyone prefer to ride the loop? Clockwise or Counterclockwise?
I prefer counterclockwise (up the east side, down the west side). I start at the "lower entrance", bust my lungs up climbing up the east side, then finish the loop by hammering down the super-flowy stuff on the west side. About the last 500 yards are real fun that way.

I almost always get in two loops-one in each direction. It's a good pump on the SS :)

Rides well both ways. West is more fun down and more of a gradual grunt up. East is fun down too and going up has some fun punchy ups. If I had to pick, I would say counterclockwise is my fav, but like Dave, I usually ride it both each time.
There definately isn't a recommended way. The trail is two way traffic for the whole thing.
