Eagle Project Proposal

My name is Chris L., and I am writing about my Boy Scout Eagle Project. A requirement of the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest rank in scouting, is the Eagle Project. In my project, I must plan, develop, and give leadership to others in a service project helpful to my community. The project requires at least 100 man hours of service.

I have enjoyed riding the Theodore Wirth Off-Road Cycling Trail, and I think working on trail development would be an excellent Eagle Project.

If you think the idea has potential and it would be helpful to the Minnesota Off-Road Cyclists, I would like to I'd like some feedback whether this would work well with the Theo Wirth Off-Road trail as well as who would be the best contact person to talk with about the project.

Shad (manual63) and I would be the folks you'd talk to about a project.

We do trailwork on the first, third, fourth and fifth Wednesday of the month from 5pm until a bit before dusk if you'd like to see what we're working on. Otherwise, we're always open to hearing your proposed project. If it fits, we'd welcome your help.

The fine print: You are welcome to tour at any time and we'd love to show you around. If you'd like to stay for trailwork, please let me know in advance -- we require a parent's signature on a liability waiver for anyone under eighteen.

We had a Scout approach us at Hillside for this same thing. I think it's a great type of project for this final level of Scouting. I recommend that Shad and Mara check into this... :)

We've worked with two different Eagle Scout projects thus far at Theo. There are definitely possibilities for a third, but part of the magic is me trying to keep my opinions out of it until we hear his proposal. I'm hoping he can identify a need and come up with something even better than we would think of ourselves.
