So what is this new trail system actually going to be like? Is it going to be similar to a lot of the MORC trails around the metro area in terms of trail features, obstacles, terrain, etc or will it be more of a cross country trail with not many features or obstacles? Just curious.

It will be similar to the trails in the metro. features will be built now as well as added later to keep interest from riders. Some features will not be built right away but will be added later this year or early next year.

22 miles of top quality trail is our goal. We are stressing quality trail vs quantity of trail. Some of the sideslopes that we have designed trail on are 80%+ and if that does not cause you to develop a bit of a pucker the rock areas will get your attention.

The only thing I would add to Tim's description is that these trails have elevation change. A lot of it.

I think I will start a new business near the Cuyuna Trail. I will be selling bicycle tires and tubes. You will not believe how sharp some of the talus rocks are that we ran the trail across.

If you are going to ride this trail make sure you bring extra tires and tubes along---I guarnatee that you will need them.

Solar powered vending machine? Maybe the park would like a resident expert up there on the weekends to "help" people with their bike repairs.

Hopefully Cycle Path & Paddle in Crosby gets well stocked up! They'll be the closest shop for miles.

Was at Cuyuna today. Rain RAIN and RAIN. Even the gore tex couldn't keep me dry. Nice thing about the rain is that it offerred me the opportunity to critically assess the trail for drainage. Overall very pleased with the water controls and the construction. Seems to drain well and much of the trail is getting packed in nicely.

We designed about 3 miles of beginner trail that I think will have appeal to other riders as well. It is beginner only because we kept the climbing to 5-6% and there are no technical features yet.

We also found 2 new boulder fields that had not been discovered previously. We designed trail to them and will utilize others to help with the design of the "playground." I think this new discovery brings the total to 5 boulder fields where we plan on building some cool features.

Seriously, how many times does the trail builder/designer mention they found "another" boulder field. As if one finds these laying around in Minnesota.

Sounds awesome, can't wait to see it!
