COGGS is hiring!
This summer COGGS has been presented with a tremendous opportunity to increase the amount of work we can accomplish to achieve our goals of making Duluth the best town to be a cyclist. In the past, we struggled to find opportunities for trail development. This has all changed in the past year as we have found ourselves with either official or verbal agreements to expand trail networks in Mission Creek, Spirit Mountain, Brewer Park and Lester Park. Our new problem is that we currently are limited by the amout of volunteer work that is done each year. We just don't have enough people volunteering to keep up with all the opportunity we have to establish trail systems.
Enter the great opportunity we have this summer. Thanks to the forsight of Brad Gustason, COGGS will have a Duluth Workforce Development crew this summer working on our trails. A crew of 4-6 workers, aged 16-24 will be putting 25 hours each week into COGGS trails. The crew will be working in the months of June and July for 6-8 weeks. The best part is that all of these workers are paid through Duluth Workforce Development.
So why is COGGS hiring? Because in order to have this group of student workers, we have to have a paid supervisor for them.
We are asking for applications from interested people who have the right experience and are willing to do the following:
-Supervise a crew of 4-6 students and instructing them in proper trailbuilding techniques using pulaskis and mcleods.
-Work 30 hours per week for 6-8 weeks in June and July for $15/hr.
-Have first aid training
-Fill out a small amount of paperwork for the Duluth Workforce Development program and track each workers hours.
-Transport all materials and equipment to and from the job site.
-Work with COGGS trail stewards on design and procedures for trail development.
Any interested parties can please contact Adam Sundberg at adamsundbergdc@hotmail.com or 218-340-6110 for an application and to set up a phone interview.
