How do I get the messages to scroll from oldest to newest in a thread?? I can't seem to find a way to do this. If possible, can we get the message board setup this way??
thx

I'm not 100% sure what you mean.. you want to see the oldest on the top and the newest at the bottom?
This is an option - I believe it is either or, but not a user option but system-wide.
perhaps we can have a vote.. Many I frequent have the latest at the top which is why I selected it, but if people like the logic of old to new we can do that too... sometimes it makes sense on boards that don't quite have the huge volume that some others do.

I vote for oldest to newest. It is a little easier to understand what is going on, esecially for people who have just joined and are going through the posts. I didnt know what was going on at first cause the replies were before the questions.

Yea, that can be confusing. The only problem is that if a thread gets to be multiple pages long people get tired of having to find the last page to get to the area they haven't read yet... but we don't have that problem currently here... yet? :D

every other discussion forum I have ever participated in has the original post at the top and the newest post at the bottom. That way would make more sense to me just out of default. It's that way at the 4 or 5 other discussion boards I read.

I would have to vote for the oldest to newest display option. Most of the forums I go to have it setup this way. It is just something I have to remember when viewing this forum, but it is not a big deal to me.
Gopherhockey, I wanted to thank you for all your work in setting up and running this forum, it is a great addition to MORC.

I hope more people will voice their concerns here on this and any other topics. I really don't mind making changes - I love that people have suggestions, and I will (try) not take it personally! hehe...
Seriously though I'm still open to changing this if more request it.
Also, thanks for the kind words. It has been frustrating at times but mostly fun getting it up and running, and seeing more and more people joining and posting has made it all worth it. Thank you to everyone who is pitching in and adding to discussions!

John- Thanks for the board, looks really good. I was on another board and just got a link to this one from Rocky Mtn, so I joined up. I have never been mtn. biking in MN., came out here from CA., so looking forward to hitting up some trails.

my vote is to make the message board read from oldest on top to newest on the bottom. seem easier to read that way, at least for me. it's confusing to read all the answers before you get to the question....

I agree oldest to newest, I have never seen something like this (newest to oldest) and it is really confusing. but maybe that is just me.

It probably is just you ;)
Of the many boards I frequent its about half and half. Mostly lower traffic boards go oldest to newest, while the larger traffic ones go the other way.
I am starting to think I'll switch things around - our threads don't grow very fast...
For some things, like trail conditions, it may be nice to have the latest on the top - I think they will get larger when spring comes along. For all the rest, they could just as well be old to new.
Don't be too surprised or confused if this gets switched around before the new year
