I'll be in Mankato this weekend (OCT 2-4th) for my wifes class reunion. Would like to get a ride in on Saturday or Sunday. I'm not familiar with trails in the area. Anyone want to give me a guided tour?

dang bad timing. ill be up in the cities for twin cities marathon. you really only have two options in mankato. go to mount kato pay the 8 bucks, be bored, or go to seven mile (off 169 on your way into town) ride for free and it will be ok. or drive 35 min south, ride with chris d at grandams trail and ride the sweetest 1 mile of single track ever (for real its a ton of fun)

Dang, I guess Tim likes the trail! :)

My parents will be in-town but that never stops me from getting together for a ride. PM me if you wanna come down to check out Grandma's!

I'd show you around, but I am going to be in LaCrosse for the weekend.

You'd rather ride gravel roads that Mt Kato? Seriously? Mt Kato has some of the best trails in the area.

Why is it boring to you?

I'm not sure I'd even totally agree with Tim that Mt. Kato is "boring" but I must say I haven't bothered to go up and ride it even once this year. Granted, I'm also heavily biased because I've done a lot of work on Grandma's and it's 3 1/2 miles away vs. 37 to Mt. Kato.

Mt. Kato's got some killer climbs, fun downhills and a few tight, challenging switch-backs. However, there's not one rock garden, log pile or other such technical feature except for one small jump. It's somewhat an example of "old skool" mountain biking in that respect. :)

I'd love to have the length of Mt. Kato, but I'm working on that, too. ;)

its boring, because once i finish a lap, i dont have the desire to go out and do another one. granted there are some fun sections, i just couldnt see spending a few hours out there. thats all.

I know of the most technical trail in the Mankato area:cool:, however it's only about 1/2 mile long..... pm me if want to check it out.
