While we were out flagging I got a good look at the Luce Line. It looks like they have it graded the way they want and now have a sand base down. I do not know the process of paving and the order in which things are done.....so guess away....:)

We still have not gotten word on when the Luce Line will be finished. We are still thinking mid to late June.....which is a rough estimate to a guess at this point.

The area is still pretty messy and will need a lot of clean up once the paving is done. Our reroute is on schedule as long as we can keep from having to reflag every time we show up and all our flags have been taken down.....:banghead:

We are doing our best to keep everyone informed. There is no info that we have not provided here in the forums or on the MOCA website and blog at www.mocatrails.org.

This bit of news just came to me direct from Three Rivers and the MPRB.

Until the trails are open (completion of all construction related to the Luce Line, including plantings and restoration), for the safety of the public, the area is closed to public use.

If sand base is down they are ready to begin paving, that is the next step. Followed up by the clean up.

Does this mean we can go to the rock store and start choosing trail features now???? its just so much fun to pick colors, textures, sizes and shapes!

Disclaimer: I will as much as possible use the bypasses around the trail features as I injure easily and take a long time to heal.

I tried going to Theo via Luce Line and there is a bridge west of the nude beach they are working on that does not look all that finished yet.
Its kinda up in the air with no way to get on to it from either end...they are likely holding off on it for safety reasons.

Talked with an unhappy local that had the woods behind her house torn down to put in the trail :x

Just to be clear on this. Paving of the Luce Line is not the factor that will determine whether the trails open or not. There is a lot of cleanup, planting, and other things that need to happen before the north loop can open. We also need signage for each crossing of the Luce Line, qualifiers, and other things for our trail to open.

Once again, our part will get done quicker with more volunteers.

Any chance it is someone involved with the construction taking down flags they don't recognize to avoid confusion?

Entirely possible and it was the first thing we thought of. So we contacted them today to make sure they know that those are our flags. Let's hope that was the case.

now wouldn't that be a scary thought:pullhair: . Then we could add guard rails for the trail features, and passing lanes on the hills, and signage for "obstacles ahead", smooth out the log piles and rock gardens, install traffic signals at the intersections. Now, that's safe mountain biking. :pullhair::pullhair:

Not to be judgemental, but generally the type of people that hang out at nude beaches are not the type of people you want to see naked....not that there's anything wrong with that.

Nor does that particular Nude Beach usually have any residents of the female anatomy present.
