View Full Version : When is Theo going to be ridable again?

I know I could probably sift and search through all the forums to find out the scoop on the North loop. But what is going on and when can I ride it again?

It bites not having a local urban trail to ride!

No one knows for sure when it will be open. Easy answer is "when the Luce Line is finished".

There are many metro trails to ride. Granted they may be a few more miles away but worth the drive. http://www.morcmtb.org/trailreviews/metro/index.html

Luce Line trail is being built by Three Rivers Park. Theo will open when that is complete and the Theo crew completes reroutes. No one is sure when the Luce Line will be complete.

Are there any secret urban trails, and what is the password I need to get into those?

Yeah, all is not right without riding Monday night at Theo. Hopefully it will be open before too much longer.

I was a little disappointed to see the newsletter say "by the end of summer" for Theo.

I didn't read that.:cryin: How long does it take to cut a bike path through the woods with heavy equipment, for cripes sake?

I propose the Mother of all rides when it opens again.

Yeah like 24-hours at Theo. Some event where riders are flowing through the trail for 24 hours straight. Food, beer, bonfire, and a jolly good time.

I live in the area as well. I posted a thread about this a couple weeks ago called "other theo wirth area trails" and in that thread, i posted a link to a map of other trails in that area that i like to hit on a weekly basis. here is the link to the thread:

http://www.morcmtb.org/forums/showthread.php?t=31354

the link to the trails map is in the 1st post. keep in my mind that some of the trails are not official or legal mtb trails so ride at your own risk and watch out for walkers. i have never had a problem and the walkers do not seem to mind as long as you keep your speeds in check.

The Robbinsdale section is being threatened by a frisbee golf course. The parks dept is recommending it to the council tonight 715pm. Many have been trying to fight it. If you want to voice your opinion go to robbinsdale website and contact the city council/mayor. I actually recieved a note back from the mayor today. It is short trail in a narrow nature park but fun for the start of the dirt trails to get to theo and brownie.

There's lots of trails down by Minnehaha falls and the dog park.

I've been riding the Brownie Lake Trail, combine it with the South Loop at Theo do it 2-3 times and you've got yourself a decent urban mtb adventure.

I was not able to make it to that meeting. Had to work. Did you go?

I don't understand how they would put a frisbee golf course in there. It is all woods. Would they actually tear down trees for something like that?

I went, but didn't make it through the end. I couldn't take listening to all those comments repeated over and over. They propose 9 holes and maybe 18 later. I think 9 would be short holes and I have no idea where they would put another 9 unless they move into mary hillls? The main problem is frisbees hitting other users and some tree removal. The city engineer was calling the park full of pests and was hatin on the park trying to push this through. He showed a picture of the jumps in mary hills while he was showing pics of sochaki. Last meeting he was ripping on bikes that go through there that ride over concrete and whatever else. I have my opinion of him and the park council that I'll keep to myself.
If this goes in and you get hit by a frisbee you can complain or keep their frisbee and let them complain.

I don't understand what the big deal is?
We were talking about urban trails and Robbinsdale was mentioned including the frisbee golf war going on.
Shouldn't we have a little freedom of expression here or wtf?!

Wow, so the 0.83 mile loop at Grandma's Trail is longer than what's currently open at Theo. Never knew I had it so good.

WTF - When Theo's Fixed

I'll be around Theo Monday.

I have to agree with the WTF - When's Theo Fixed? remark.

I should be getting my bike this week, and since Theo and River Bottoms are the only two trails that really seem accessible to me, based on location and my non-car status that cuts my options down!

It depends on weather and other factors. So no, we do not have a solid date as to when it will be done.

But we will announce when the North Loop opens. You can trust us on that and not need to repeat this question over.....and over.....and over......and over......:deadhorse:

/shrug I am curious about the progress too. I should ride down the Luce Line and see how far it goes now...

There are no set deadlines, that way they are never behind schedule :p
Add to it that its park work...I know better than half of the state park workers I know require "smoke" breaks a few times a day which doesnt make them move any faster.

Just like a road trip with kids:
"are we there yet"
"are we there yet"
"are we there yet"
"are we there yet"
"are we there yet"
"are we there yet"

Dad replies:
"We'll get there when we get there! Now sit down and shut up - or I'll turn this car around right now!" :D
